Kim is a wonderful professor. She truly wants her students to become better writers and readers. She assigns A LOT of essays in her freshman class, but she is willing to give feedback on rough drafts and gives LOTS of feedback with her grades.

Kim is one of the best professors at Kenyon, if not in the country. I've had her for multiple classes and she's pretty much my unofficial advisor--she cares deeply about helping students do well and making them better writers and thinkers. Even if you don't plan on being an English major I 100% recommend taking a class with her.

McMullen is the best professor I've had at Kenyon, hands down. She knows how to keep discussion flowing in an engaging way even when her students put little forward. Though she's tough and expects a lot, she'll make you work harder than you knew you could.

Okay, I put ENGL 327 because I don't know the class number for Novel at the End of the Empire. Prof McMullen is pretty awesome, but she's a wicked hard grader, and there are way too many texts to read for her class. It's hard to keep up with the reading because it's freaking insane. But she is brilliant, really nice, and extremely helpful.

For Novel at the End of the Empire: McMullen is brilliant, engaging, and always willing to lend a helping hand in office hours or give an extension when necessary but...her insane reading assignments will kill your soul. She'll tell you it's about 70 pages a class, but that is a gross underestimate. And she's a tough grader. Take Irish Lit instead.

Brilliant, passionate, perceptive, challenging, inspiring. If there were stenographers in class every lecture of hers could be publishable. Heavy on theory, which I love, but isn't everyone's cup of tea. Supportive and encouraging outside of class. One critique: perhaps a few too many books on the syllabus. I wish I'd discovered her much sooner.
