Comment:
Professor Clarvoe is exactly what you'd expect a poetry teacher to look like. She expects a lot out of you, and if you're not willing to give that to her you'll have a hard time in her class, but if you do you will learn A LOT. She's really sweet, an easy grader, and incredibly understanding. Take her class, you'll love her.

Assertive but delicate. She is filled with contagious wonder. Also, so intelligent. I learned to trust her knowledge and passion and accept her guidance. Let her get carried away on rants and listen. Take her class and go to office hours.

Professor Clarvoe's expectations of you couldn't be less clear. It is one of the most frustrating classes I've ever attended. Her class discussions are incredibly unfulfilling. She gives you annoyingly micromanaging instructions on papers but her expectations still aren't clear. She's a nice person but a terrible teacher.

I ABSOLUTELY love her. Every time she speaks it's like listening to poetry. She really pushes you to learn, engage, & embrace the material. I absolutely hated & wanted nothing to do with poetry before I took her class and now I can't get enough. While she isn't the easiest of graders, her feedback is helpful. You WILL be a better writer bc of it.

Comment:
Prof Clarvoe is quirky, but in a kind of not so good way. She's really unclear, and gets angry and makes people cry. She also takes a really long time handing stuff back. I think she has good intentions...? There are a lot of great English professors at this college, but she is not one of them.

She's obviously really smart and passionate about her work, but I had a hard time understanding her. She is also pretty disorganized.

It is difficult to describe someone who is so vague and yet so precise. She hits it. What does she hit? I don't know, but she nailed it.

I thought the point of small classes was to provoke discussion, but in this class it was more like 12 front row seats in what could have been a big lecture hall.

she's awesome. as a workshop leader, she's extremely helpful and encouraging, but swift and merciless if necessary. eccentric speaker, but incredibly articulate and precise. don't brown-nose. it won't work.

She's a genius, and if you listen to her, you will learn. Her lectures can be difficult b/c she's dealing w/ difficult/complicated topics; but what would you expect? She helped my paper writing so much; and she WILL help if you ask. An AMAZING poet too.

AS long as you know how to write a coherent paper, hardest part of this class is staying awake. And don't try to take notes off of the board, your notes will look like an Eng. Dept.'s version of the ink blot test filled with random words and symbols.
