He was great and very funny! Learned a lot about myself, the teaching world, and different teachers from him. His intro classes are very easy, but his upper-division classes are actually quite hard.

Kip challenegs his students to critique their own point of views of educators and education. Great information to take away from every single lecture. Not mandatory attendance. Learned so much about how little I know about being a "good" teacher. Such an eye opening class!

Very enthusiastic, he assumes all the kids in the class are the typical white upper-middle class kids, the traditionally collegebound type so those of us who AREN'T are a tiny bit offended cuz we think he's grouping us in with -them-. nonetheless, good class, though he's a bit pompous and upstages guest speakers often.

I hated this class, it made me decide against teaching as a profession...as well as making me drop the minor. Most people I know in the class hated the class itself, but love working with the kids. That was the only good aspect to it, otherwise...it was a pointless class. Lectures taught you nothing.

Kip was my all time favorite UCSC professor. I loved his openness, his willingness to share opinions, and his choice of readings to fuel discussion. He taught me that professors don't have to be stodgy lectureers, and that they can actually enjoy what they do.

Kip and his Intro to Teaching class are really what made me passionate about the career of teaching. The readings are good, his lectures are informative, stimulating, and beyond all this he is a great guy. He is sensitive to students needs, fun to talk to, and very helpful. I would highly recommend taking this class with Kip!

Fun teacher with good stories. Made the class very engaging with open conversations. Papers and classwork seemed to be all due in the last week of class though. It was a little too work much all at the end of the quarter I thought.

Kip is the best professor I have had in the education department. Go salmon! He teaches it the way it is and doesn't try to sugarcoat the teaching profession. Well worth the time and effort you have to put into the course.

Kip rules. He's charismatic and funny and I often agree with him. The reading he assigns often completely contradicts his viewpoint though. A word of warning, don't put all the work off until the last minute or you will hate it. The class itself is awesome as you observe actual teachers.

Tellez is arrogant and tends to de-validate views other than his own (however, i appreciate that his reading often contradict him) . somedays i cant stand him, but he is better when lectureing on stats and policy instead of theory.
