Comment:

I had College Algebra with Dr. Ward, which is an online class. The site we used was not a great tool. However, he does care about your success in his class and does work with students who have personal problems outside of class. I do like him as a person, however, I don't know how he is as a lecture teacher, so I may be biased.

Comment:

This class is kinda a do it yourself deal. Its all on ALEKS and Lance just walks around and helps you if you need it. He sometimes will notice if you aren't doing your work, but he isn't too anal about it. Get your stuff done on time and you'll be fine. You could probably go the entire semester without ever talking to him.

Teacher is okay, although he's pretty creepy and a bit condescending at times. He doesn't really teach anything in the class as all the work is done online. However, attendance is required. The class itself is easy, but the aleks system is annoying and I would've rather taken a normal online class or an actual lecture class (what I was expecting).

Probably the easiest math class I have ever taken. I really enjoyed it because it was done all online and you could go at your own pace. Dr. Ward was very helpful and encouraging but can also be a bit awkward. It's pretty clear he really wants to help his students. I would definitely take his class again.

The class was so easy. The lectures are boring and don't have too much information. He uses Aleks which is way better than what the other MAT 171 teacher uses. He truly wants to help students and lets us have time to do homework.

Professor Ward is extremely smart, but I think he struggles teaching subjects to his students. He is a bit awkward and sometimes his answers are confusing. Ward was pretty much irrelevant while taking his class because everything was taught online and submitted online. I have spoken to his assistants more often than him.

He's an okay teacher but it's frustrating. You have to come to class just to do an online module. So you come to the class and just sit and do your online work and while you're trying to do it he talks into his microphone in like an old man phone sex voice the whole time and it is impossible focus. Other than that he's not bad.

Professor Ward is a very smart teacher, who wants and cares about your learning; the downside is that he doesn't really textbook teach, he teaches by introducing a couple of topics and then the way you learn is by doing the problem with him, he is 10/10 when you need help on a specific question.

Ward cares about his students and really wants you to learn. He gives extra credit every time you attend tutoring and the class is ALEKS based. If you pace yourself on Aleks and attend his lectures, the class is a breeze. He explains great and answers any questions you have in class.

He is an amazing professor. He really cares about all of his students. He helps out in anything you need as long as you reach out for him. He made it really easy for me to take tests when I couldn't make it to class without deducting points. He also makes sure that you understands the concepts he is talking about.

Go to class to sign in, you can either stay and work on the online modules in class or walk out and do them on your time. Overall easy class, boring teacher. Only 2 tests total and everything is online

Math is difficult for me and I had anxiety thinking about taking this course. But the lectures and examples are really easy to follow, the timeline is manageable for me as a full time employee, student and mom and the professor is very understanding of "life happens" If you have a difficult time with Math, this course will be great for you!

Taken 3 classes that've covered the concepts in this class & still had a D going into SB. Over 100% in HW but tests are poorly weighted for your grade. Tests are 72% of your grade. 9-12 questions on a test, one FR problem worth 12 points, MC worth 8. Dropped for the sake of my GPA. Doesn't teach, only does Webassign probs in class. Weekly quizzes.

Two exams and a final, with online HW. He's always there for his students, but you will need to seek him out. You WILL need to show up to class for the clicker quizzes. Spent quite a bit of time in the tutor center to make it through this class. Lectures cover basic examples, while HW is a little more in depth.

Professor Ward is extremely nice, but unless you have a fairly study understanding of the material going into the course, the class is quite hard. All of class is just random examples that are not on tests or HW. Weekly quizzes and online HW. I did not know much calc prior to the class and really struggled, was at the math lab many days of the week

Must go to extra tutoring sessions in order to pass. Pretty straight forward... Do all the homeworks (a lot), and get a good grade on the 3 tests, and there is nothing to worry about. He does an average job of explaining things in class, but is better at it during his office hours.

Is super funny and caring! Helped me get my grade up after I was in the hospital for a while. My grade simply reflects how bad I am at math- but he really helped me understand concepts despite how terrible I am at math!

Comment:

Ward was an ok professor. He does not really lecture, but he goes over a lot of examples. The class chooses the examples we do in class from the homework. Seemed nice and approachable even though he was a bit creepy. Take notes because he lets you them during quizzes. Study the quizzes and you should be able to pass the tests.
