Larry is very rude to students. MGST is a boring class however, the way he structured it makes it more doable. There are 2 group cases - it was unfair this semester because we never got feedback from our first case as there was a delay in the TA marking, so we were sent off to do the 2nd case without knowing how we could possibly improve.

Was genuinely surprised he received good feedback in other reviews. Aside from being funny he adds no value to the material. Reads directly off the slides, provides NO guidance about grading criteria (because he claims that would be giving the answer away?) You do all the learning on your own with him as a prof. Would not recommend.

FNCE 477 was definitely the worst class I've taken so far. Larry has very high expectations and provides NO guidance for the ridiculous amount of material which is covered. He expected all of us to be professional financial planners, so he overloads you with ridiculously specific information which is probably more applicable to other classes

Really good prof for MGST 451. In class activities are easy and fun. His weekly quizzes can be poorly worded and he only reads word for word off his slides so you end up teaching yourself the course. He is funny and makes classes interesting

Larry Wood was an excellent professor, his exams are based exclusively on practice exams and lecture content. There is a lot of content to go through, as there is in any finance class, but he makes everything easier on students. I plan to take more classes with him in the future.

First off hes funny so if you come to lectures you'll be thoroughly entertained. Larry copies his quizzes almost verbatim to the practice quizzes he posts, and his midterm and final are very similar to the actual thing. BUT DO NOT BE RELIANT on this because he sometimes the question looks the same, but hes asking something different. Decent Prof.

Larry was funny but he usually read straight off the slides, and because we had to do quizzes on lectures before they were taught most people didn't show up to those lectures as they had already taught themselves everything. Final is 48% but very similar to practice, with wording of questions changed slightly and numbers changed.

Larry is a great instructor. Had a very good knowledge of the material and pulled no punches or tricks as to what was expected of you to succeed in the course. He also does care about the students and will offer any help he can give to help you succeed in the course. He wrote the textbooks himself and everything you need is right in there

I heard good things about Larry, sadly he didn't live up to it. He was funny at times, but generally he just read straight off the slides. The quiz layout means no one shows up to Thursday classes. Beware the group case, bad members can bring your mark down substantially. Final was easy, being basically identical to the practice one. Beware quizes

As someone who knew nothing about personal finances prior to this class, Larry's class definitely did teach me a lot. He wrote the textbook himself, which provides students with problems and examples.. which he always recommends doing as the examples are on the exams. He also tries to incorporate humour, and he seems to truly care about students.

I heard good things about Larry, but I can't really see it. He just reads the slides + the quizzes are hard b/c you do them BEFORE he teaches the material. For the life of me, I cannot understand why it is set up this way. Averages on quizzes usually a C. No one attends Thursday lectures because we already taught ourselves the material for the quiz

Larry's just a super solid guy. His expectations are fair given the content of the course; if you prepare how he tells you an A- or above is easily achievable. You need to put in work to see the results though - this course is not to be taken lightly! Larry genuinely cares about his students and is a quality character through and through.

Finance is a difficult course, but Larry makes it all better. He is one of the best professors I have had in my 4 years of university. He cares about each student and makes an effort to know everyone's names. Attendance is not mandatory but I went to every single lecture because of how fun his classes are. Not to mention he is absolutely hilarious.

Larry does a good job at explaining the material that at times can get confusing. He's fairly funny too. He forces engagement onto people who come to class and posts weekly quizzes on D2L, for those reasons most people stop showing up, except for the graded in-class activities. Group work is boring. Final test is half of the mark, but is fair

Course was redone and now it is super easy. There is no midterm, the online quizzes are straight from the slide decks, the in class activities are mostly games and participation marks, and the final is extremely similar to the mock final with the added bonus that you're allowed to bring in a cheat sheet. Group cases are tougher, but still easy.

Hard but if you have to take it, take it with Larry! He can be intimidating but really cares about the success of his students. Although it's not required I would recommend going to his lectures because he makes the material more understandable! Hint: make sure you do his practice quizzes and exams because they are VERY similar to the real thing

The king himself. If you are able to land him in spring go make a charitable donation somewhere because you just hit the lottery. The practice quizzes and exams are the exact same as the real ones just with different numbers. I would say non business kids could take this as an option. Organize your schedule in advance to take fin317 in the spring.
