Comment:
This class is TOUGH, but that should be expected for an advanced bio course. You have to be willing to have this be your highest priority course. Attendance isn't mandatory, but the exam are extremely lecture heavy, so don't take this class if you're not going to attend. Halverson is a very knowledgable professor and extremely willing to help.

Hard class, but anyone taking micro classes shouldn't be surprised at the difficultly, really prepares you for a grad level class. Does a good job teaching the material, very excited about the info. Tests are hard-plan on studying a lot for them!

It's not necessarily an easy class, but a good way to gear up for what will be expected in grad school. Lots of details to know. Prof is excited about his subject and genuinely wants to teach. Helpful but you must ask for his help.

Dr. Halverson is hard, but reasonable. If you need help, he is very willing to explain lecture material. The book is for reference - not in depth reading. He is fair in grading, though after taking the final, I was frustrated.

Comment:
This class was too advanced for undergraduates. The textbook is completely useless. Dr. Halverson does explain thing well but the homework and the tests are ridiculous. It almost seems like he tries to make the class as hard as he possibly can. As hard as the class was I feel like I left it and haven't learned anything at all.

Worst class ever, it is extremely detailed and incredibly boring. Be prepared to study all the time if you want an A. His tests are ridiculous and the study guides don't help. If I were you I would wait until they get someone else to teach it.

Taught the class like it was an upper level course... I guess he forgot the title said "intro". He assumed that people knew a lot more then they did. I found lecture very confusing. He jumped from topic to topic with no clear separations. He was very vague in his explanations and always expected you to know more then he taught.

Very in depth, be aware that studying is a must, and be prepared to skip things as he runs out of time or gets 'bored'.

Larry is very clear and organized. If you come to class and take notes and follow the coursepack. Then study this information you'll surely get an A. Don't spend too much time reading the book unless you're confused. Larry is very helpful and easy to approach about grades, questions, etc.
