Comment:

If you take this class you will be graded on very few assignments and homeworks do not mean anything but extra studying material. This was not a fun class nor did I feel like I came out with anything new. The teacher really does seem to care about her students, but as someone who took her class I feel she can do a better job with helping students.

Comment:

Answers homework questions beginning of classes and helps students in her office as well as before/after classes. Four exams for Calculus I and has reviews and homework practice problems that are very helpful. Professor encourages students to work together to understand the material. Also offers extra credit assignment can be a paper/ presentation

Posts review answers to practice review sheets for exams. Encourages students to ask questions and discuss material with classmates. Goes over homework questions students have at the start of class. Caring professor who tries to help students boost their grades. She may be tough, but she has office hours and provides extra credit to boost grade.

Cares about her students, offers extra credit to boost grade. Wrote a paper on a math topic for extra credit. Allows students to form study groups or present study topics as review before exams. Took her for Calculus I. There were four exams and she gives you review problems from the book before the exams and if you have questions, she will answer them if you ask. There is also an opportunity for extra credit by writing a page about a math topic. Professor has a good sense of humor and encourages students to try their best.

Took her in class for intro to stats.. if you struggle with math, do not take her. I would try to ask questions but she would make me feel stupid for not already knowing. There were only 5 grades that were put in, 4 exams and a huge project that does not make sense. Fail one exam and you're over.. Looking out for you, don't take her.

Great teacher however very strict on grading and spelling of word than, is intimidating but cares. Will call you out in front of class! Not for math haters. struggled through and I have taken calc 2 with 95 and above. does not use book in class used book 2x. test grades weigh heavy and are long and extensive.

Very intimidating. When asking questions she would get annoyed that we did not get the material right away. You have to read to book closely in order to pass because she won't help much.

Intentionally intimidating and rude. Expects us to ask questions and then makes you feel like an idiot when you do ask one. I would not take her again and I wouldn't recommend her to anyone. She's just plain mean.

No one will tell you that she is easy compared to other Universi. She has office hours! Go to them! If you have a stupid question then OWN THE STUPID or come up with an educated one! She is there to make you tough and some of you need it. Yes I am struggling but she is not failing me, I am failing myself. She does not scare me nor her grading

She is one of the most condescending teachers I have ever met. On the first day she just kept making side comments about how our generation is stupid because of our overuse of technology. Very unfriendly. Even if she teaches math well, her attitude gave me anxiety and hate the class.

Showalter is a great professor. If you are that person who does not do the homework you will come to class unprepared for when she lectures on the subject you are learning. If you are bad at math she does recognize you when you go to the tutoring center for help. If you dont try outside of class then you will fail her class

Overall a great teacher. She understands her material in depth, and if she makes a mistake in class, she will send the correct answers to us if she realizes she messed up. Homework is optional but extremely recommended. She is extremely easy to talk to and has available office hours. There are only 4 tests and a writing assignment. Would recommend.

She is a super tough professor, if you are not good at math I recommend not taking her. She is someone that makes you scared to ask questions, and if you don't you will not pass. She is not an easy A makes you put in a lot of work.

Professor Showalter is really really tough but she's really one of the best people I've ever met. I had her for stats and she offers "mulligans" to correct a few test questions to bring your grade up, which is helpful if you didn't do that well. She genuinely cares about her students and that's why she pushes so hard. Not an easy A teacher.

Comment:

Professor Showalter is an amazing professor. She does examples in class step-by-step and relates them to real life situations. Tests are exactly like what's done in class. Homework isn't graded but similar questions will be on test. She lets you use a flash card on every test that you can put anything on. Highly reccomend this professor.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!! I dreaded going to class every day because she puts you down and makes you feel dumb. Ex: a student said an answer and it was the wrong answer and she went on a rant about how obsurd his answer was, but another time went on a rant about students who don't answer out loud will not be successful... all around horrible!

If you have a hard time with math DO NOT take this class she will make you feel like the dumbest person ever, lectures are really confusing id taking notes she will yell at you and erase the notes i do not recommend take her.

Comment:

Professor Showalter is phenomenal. You will learn so much. There are four tests, plus a writing project. She extends her office hours to accommodate the students who want to make appointments to do test corrections, which are available on all but the last test. She does not check homework, but it is definitely in your best interest to do it.
