Would not recommend this class. Really hard grader, barely does any work. The TAs do most of the work and they are terrible themselves. Didn't really learn anything from this course. Just an overall terrible class.

I love Professor Vazquez. All she wants is her students to do well in class as well as in the real world. Have any questions, don't be afraid to ask. She really respects her students and their opinions. She may seem mean at first, but seriously one of the best professors around!

When I took her for 358mI was a little unsure about her, but after taking 426 with her I think she is an amazing teacher. I personally think she works much better in a smaller class. When she was helping me one on one with projects she would give me great feedback which led to great work.

First of all, the T.A.s do most of the work for this course, so the quality of the course depends more on the T.A.s than Professor Vazquez. However, she puts vodcasts on Blackboard over all the chapters, and it really helps clear things up. She's very knowledgable but kind of has a big ego. The class is great fun, though!

The T.A's do all of the grading.She was rarely in the lab with us at all.Manage your work and be careful about deadlines, you will be ok.Honestly the T.A's know more than she does about using Final Cut, if you have questions ask them.And for any one who says she's hot, she is in her late 50's so that is simply not true.

great teacher. people who think she plays favorites or is unfair are not right for production and probably only took the class cus they "wanted to make a movie". her class is structured well, with lots of interesting work. better than writing papers. shes more than willing to help you out if you show her respect.

Yes at first the class/rules seem like a death sentence, just take it one day at a time. Aside lectures, Vazquez herself oversees very little of the class. I agree with below - I walked in knowing nothing about Final Cut Pro, and walked out no better prepared. If you have a decent TA (like we did) and cool partners, you should make it through.

Can be intimidating, especially on the first day, but HANG IN THERE. She's fair, TA's handle most of the project work/grading. A cool TA makes the diff between doing well and struggling. They could teach Final Cut Pro better tho - I walked in knowing nothing about it,and walked out the exact same way. A little luck and cool partners got me thru.

Nothing against the credentials of Mary Larson or Laura Vasquez, but I think many would agree with me when I say the COMS department (and your requirements) as a whole would benefit GREATLY from some different instructors teaching 357 and 358...per say Matt Swan.
