this teacher is awesome! she reviews the material until everyone gets it and she has no problem explaining things two or three times to get the point across. she's one of the nicest easiest teachers i've ever had. she offered to drive all the way out to temecula from carlsbad just so that she could help us with our speeches.very dedicated and HOT!

I am an athlete at Palomar and I was told not to take Prof. matson's class becuase she was "to hard and didnt care" that is not true she has helped me and other students in our class so much! I would have to say this is one of the best classes i have taken at palomar! i learned so much about public speaking with her class

Don't read the negative comments. Those students are just angry because they don't put effort into her class and are probably getting bad grades. She is an AMAZING TEACHER, VERY HELPFUL, AND BLUNT (in a good way.) She helps prepare you for the real world. Overall, EXCELLENT TEACHER!

She is so disorganized,comes in late,complains how she hates her job and how she doesn't make enough money,she will yell at you for anything and is VERY rude. Professor Masten has been the best teacher I've had in college thus far. She is very helpful and goes above and beyond her teaching duties. She offers the option of reviewing your work before submitting it for grading. Palomar College needs more teachers like her. It would be a shame if Palomar doesn't hire her as a full-time teacher.

At first I did'nt think I would like her, lots of rules, and an academic snob. She is willing to work with you and gives up weekend time for office hours. If you are timid she will encourage you and get you through your speeches. Good summer class.

She is disorganized and doesnt pay attention to the speeches some time. She says she wont grade the outline in the first speech, Dont believe it! Very narrow minded on papers. Amazing teacher. I was super nervous about doing speech but Professor Masten made it seem like it was nothing. She is very clear in her teachings and is willing to help any student out with whatever questions one has. I would recommend her to anyone who is going to be taking speech.

For a teacher as intelligent as she considering also that she is a speech professor, she is completely lacking in communication skills. She comes off nice at first, but quickly became fierce and quick to yell at anyone who made a noise. She falls behind on her curriculum and practices favoritism. Class is easy, but she fails as a professor.
