If you get San Martin as a theory professor for the 7 series, my heart cries for you. Unclear about course expectations. sends emails with conflicting content, cancels class 10 hours before lecture. changed the weight of course assignments halfway through my quarter. lectures are compositions workshops, you have to learn the material on your own.

Fine for theory, TERRIBLE at anything else. Was always asking what we wanted to talk about, which might have been her trying to be friendly but really just made her look unprepared and lazy. Extreme lack of confidence regarding what she doesdoesn't know - if you're constantly going to ask your TAs to back you up, let them teach the class. AVOID.

Her midterm and Finals are hard there is too much material on the tests, but if you memorize the textbook and know all the music by heart you can get an A. There was too many listening examples so the Final was hard. Having some of a music background would help but not by that much. YOu still need to study hard.

Professor doesn't seem to know what she is talking about most of the time. She constantly looks to the t.a. for answers. Her listening quizzes are impossible. The prof. teaches the class as if it was for majors. She expects you to knoe a lot about music and beethoven without really teaching. Avoid this prof. if possible.

Lecture really boring, but helps w/listening quizzes cuz she goes over the songs. Just bring something to do, otherwise will fall asleep. Paper prompts completely retarded. She wants you to write 5 pgs, but there's really only 3 pgs worth of stuff to say. Lots of opinion based questions on midterm. Must go to discussion.

DO NOT TAKE HER if not req! She assumes you go to every of her bored lectures. A Mozart-class-teacher who doesn't know how to play piano, have HARD & TRICKY listening quizzes and tests. Does not answer questions from email w/bad attitude, and expect you to go to class and ask her. she expects everybody has gd music foundation but req is only 10/3a
