I took a total of about half a dozen courses taught by Lawrence Daly while getting my BA in History at BGSU. I went on to get an MA at another school. Never before or since have I encountered a more intelligent, knowledgeable professor as Daly. If and when my students go to BGSU, I recommend that they take his classes. Great teacher & human being.

Best teacher I have ever had. He is very challenging but you will definitely learn something if you work hard. Have taken 2 classes with him and if I get the chance will take one more!!

If you're looking for an easy course, seek elsewhere. If you're looking to actually learn in-depth on the subject of Ancient History, then I wholly recommend this teacher. To really get the most out of this class is to have an open mind and a strong work ethic. In the end, you will get out what you put in. Wouldn't mind having him again.

Dr. Daly is a no nonsense guy. I started out hating the class because he has strong opinions and lets you know them straight away. But he is passionate, and makes you fall in love with the subject. He is a caring guy if you take the time to know him, but don't challenge him--he's a lawyer. You need to attend class and read the material to get an A!

Dr. Daly is the best teacher I have ever had, and I mean that. He may have been a hard grader, but he taught very well. The first exam I took I got a D on because I hadn't taken notes or read the book. The second exam I got a 93% because I actually listened to what he had to say. BGSU needs more teachers like him.

I don't understand the bad rep he is getting. Yes, he is a difficult teacher, but he is really the only professor who ever challenged me. My final grade was an 85% and he gave me an A, so there is a curve. Don't be discouraged about the grade on your first two exams. If you show consistency, you will be fine.

While Dr. Daly is obviously a difficult prof. he challenges the student to rise to their potential. He is more than willing to help students out, if the students are willing to put in the time to study, it only seems fair. In regards to comments he makes in class, they almost always relate in some way to the topic, and, are rather clever.

This guy is an a$$. He bashes the government, "binge drinkers", religion, and he even jokingly comments that women shouldn't be in his class--that's just disrespecful, even if you are joking. The class is hard... I got an A but I had to read and study my butt off. I wouldn't take this class with him.

This guy is a grade a jerk. He spent so much time blathering on about non-sensical issues that it was a waste of class time. His favorite tirades are on religion, and "BINGE dringers" (even though a few of his stories have convinced me that HE is an ****). DO NOT take this class, he doesn't seem to get the idea of 100 level classes, I spend more time on homework for this class than any other.. extremely difficult,you have to get an A on the final to get an A in the class. Also he's kinda an athiest/**** ****.. and ****es about the government too much.. thought this class was about ancient Egypt

He is an old guy, very boring, gets off topic about about stupid ass issues. He gives horrible notes, so use the ta as much as possible. There are 6 essays, kinda hard but kinda fun. Exams are hard as hell and there are 3 journals due each exam which suck, they require a full page journal from every day.

He does not cover the material in class. He gets off topic frequently about problems in today's society and the past that is interesting, but none the less, did not talk much about Rome. Essays are a great idea of having the student analyze different perspectives to create own idea. Tests are really hard that forces you to study.

Daly is the best history professor I ever had. If you're lazy and used to slacking, you'll hate him. But if you genuinely like learning and being forced to think logically, you'll love him. I honestly think his courses raised my IQ level. He's helpful in explaining the course material and asignments but sees through bullsh*t in a heartbeat.
