I graduated from Western decades ago and he is one of the professors who stood out in my time at UWO. He knew our names after the first week of class, and offered a solution to my late arrivals (I had 15 min btw classes & was trying to eat quickly before). He told I was welcomed to eat in class! I also loved his lectures - very interesting!

Larry is an awesome prof. I had him for Creative Writing and he inspired me to change my dream of being a teacher to a writer. He is an extremely intelligent, funny and well-read man. I have never had so much freedom in a class as I did with Larry. EXCELLENT PROF AND VERY HUMAN.

creative writing was a great experience! although i don't agree with the person who said his ideas about good writing are dated (as long as you aren't writing sci fi, haha).

This guy knows a lot about film, but this class does not need a film pre-requsite, nor is it meant for only film students and thats the way he treats it.He expects you to know things before they are taught which are only clear to film students. He does not teach with the thought that people in the class aren't film students. He should learn to unde

Great teacher, and (as far as my mom tells me) a decent author as well. I found his style to be very passionate and fun, he gets you into his mood fairly quickly and effortlessly. He is very critical of arguments that are not well-thought out, but i like that.

Creative Writing -I got a high mark in this class so I'm not biased, but any future writers should know his comments are objective and NOT NECESSARILY WORTHWHILE. He is a passionate prof, but last published before some of us were born and his idea of "good" writing is extremely outdated. Amazing course experience, but don't take it too seriously.

Great man. Fun class. His lectures sometimes ramble, but he obviously really loves what he's teaching. He's always willing to help you out when you're in a jam. The films are great too!

Wonderful man and a blast to learn from. Has a right to talk about novels, unlike many, because he has written some himself. Look especially for a chronicle along the lines of "people I ****** while living in Paris in the 60s."

Kind, brilliant. His love for films comes through in the attention he gives his subject. Gets a little carried away during lectures, but you can tell he loves what he does, and makes it easy to want to go to class.

Brilliant analytical mind. His workshops forced writers to defend their decisions and their craft while preparing them for the potential scars that criticism can leave. One hell of a guy!
