Woods in Winter: Not an NS student, but Larry made it relatively fun. His two dogs are adorable. Our walks in the woods were informative albeit very cold. Not too much work; was a nice relaxing yet still educational janterm course.

I LOVE Larry. Coming into the Environmental Sustainability class I really didn't have that much interest in it. However, after taking this class I'm really interested in sustainability, especially food sustainability. I love him so much I asked him to be my advisor and she accepted!

local food systems: I was severely disappointed with the class. through the term we met for class no more than five times. He obviously has a great wealth of knowledge but i honestly felt cheated out of what could have been a great learning experience because of the lack of class structure: there wasn't any

No syllabus, no structure, no sense. He likes to think he lets the students direct the class, but since they rarely have the background to meaningfully do so, it usually just ends up going nowhere. He rarely explained the purpose of our labs, and half the time he seemed to have no idea what was going on. If you know what to ask he is helpful though

Larry is obviously really smart, but didn't spend much time teaching. I was disappointed, though I got pretty interested in my final project (which didn't have much to do with natural science, but Larry didn't seem to care). Nice guy, just needs a little more structure.

Between videos and student presentations, he didn't do as much teaching as I would have liked. The course was sustainable living, but I don't think it even defined what sustainable means. I was ok with the lack of syllabus, but there needs to be some sort of structure to let you know that the professor isn't just making things up as he goes along.

The only time I learned anything in Biomass Energy was when I conducted my own research. We spent the first half of the semester doing little labs that were a waste of time, and the second half doing nothing but individual research for our final projects. That was a big waste of class time. Larry's a smart guy, but I hated this class.

We did not use a textbook. We completed two very small group presentations in the first half of the semester, and an individual final project during the second half. We did not have to attend class the second half of the semester. Directions were not clear. However, he is very interested in what he does and have very insightful things to say.

Biomass Energy kinda sucked. No syllabus was biggest issue. Field trips and a few cool labs sorta made up for some of the worst classes I'd been to. He's way too laid back. Brings dogs to class - more interesting than the material. Needs to get his**** together. Final project we did some cool stuff though.

Larry's sustainable agriculture class was a huge waste of time. No syllabus, no assignments. Basically 8th grade level lectures. OK, kids, let's talk about compost. Take a class with him if you want an hour and a half nap twice a week.

Larry is an amazing teacher, and has an infinite amount of knowledge to pass on. A lot of the class is more independently motivated, but you really can take away a lot from his classes if you have the desire to.

Larry forces you to really do everything on your own. I found that I learned almost nothing in the two of his classes that I took. He just doesn't seem to care.
