Comment:

Calculus is pretty difficult already but the professor doesn't teach it well. You can tell everyone in the class is lost except for like one kid who gets it. Do not take him because you'll end up in the math resource center all the time.

Comment:

Mr. Hoang really cares about his students and wants to make sure his students understand the material. He is more than willing to answer your questions. He is very quick to respond and is a very speedy grader. The only negative I would say was the amount of homework. I took him during the summer and there was an assignment (quiz) due every class.

He's tough on his students, but in the end, it works out. I really enjoyed this class. If you try and put effort on the work, he will give you a good grade. The take home quizzes and sample tests are exactly like the tests. If you study and do the homework, you'll get an A and won't have to take final exam.

It was such a struggle for me in this class. I wasn't a big fan of his teaching style because he wasn't very clear and would sometimes refuse to go over problems in class that the whole class didn't understand. He has a lot of time consuming homework. IF you are a math genius then go ahead and take his class.

He's very hard to understand and does not use blackboard which makes it even harder to keep up with him. Sometimes he gives two quizes as homework and only a day in between to do them. He rushes some lessons and misses to teach some things that you will find in a quiz. Also takes too long to put in grades.

his tests are really incomprehensible unless you take his sample tests into consideration otherwise you can fail easily and be clueless. his answers on the tests are very nit picky. worst class ever.

Thick accent, at times refused to help. You should know some math beforehand. He gives literally, hundreds of problems, but as long as you get a 90 or above on his tests, you do not have to do anything else. His extra credit was a joke, around 200 problems. His help sheets are great for his upcoming tests. Take him only if he is the last one left.

I love this guy. He is funny and honest. His homework is lengthy but it prepares you for the test. If you study and pay attention in class his class is an easy A. For those of you who dont like to study D R O P immediately or dont take his class.

I end up dropping this course because he wouldnt finish explaining problems and would leave TONS of homework. He isnt clear and goes at a fast pase. I wouldnt recommend this professor at all.

It was difficult to understand him, and his teaching method. He does not use the textbook. Even though he can do the math on his own, he cannot teach it well. I felt very overwhelmed with trying to study for his exams, because they were hard to understand. After each class I left feeling confused.

I admit, he was hard. He gives a bunch of homework but its all for practice. as long as you do the homework, you'll be fine on the tests. you just have to be ready to actually try and study the homework he gives out. doesn't use book.

Doesn't know how to teach, 80% of the time I leave class confused.Tests are hard, 80% of homework has nothing to do with tests, textbook explains things differently than he does.Get a ti-89 titanium and use it to "cheat." Semester is not yet done but I haven't really learned anything. D on 1st exam though I'm an A/B student, disappointing.

I just took this class as a refresher. I knew the material coming in, but left class puzzled. He is very unclear in his explinations and ends each problem saying, "that's easy, right?". When I asked him for help after class, he told me I needed to study, and rushed me out the door. He is a funny man, but that does not help me make good grades.

I had him for Cal1 during a summer semester. He can teach the material, but he's not very nice when it comes to exams. On exams he uses scantron, and does not look at work. Also, he will put equivalent answers as choices, so the hardest part of the exam is figuring out which answer he wanted.

for those who assume every asian is chinese, just know that hes not, hes vietnamese, and as for his teaching, he is an easy teacher if you give him a chance. yes, his teaching methods are sometimes unclear and annoying but he gets his point across...i made a flat A in his class.
