I really liked him as a person but I have to say, I didn't learn a thing in this class. He is a disorganized lecturer and the course itself is just all busy work. Attendance is mandatory which sucks when it is an 8am and you don't get anything out of the lectures anyways. Grading very subjective as others have said but I ended up with an easy A-.

The class was pretty boring and was early in the morning but those were about my only complaints. He has a lot of assignments, but you get to pick which ones you do so if you are having a rough week you can skip that assignment. Tests were an easy B if you skimmed the material over. Overall, not bad.

I thought Dr. Penyak was very unorganized. He would give "quick reviews" of previous lectures that lasted 20 minutes of him repeating the same things. I did enjoy the topic, it was hard to follow which was very disappointing. He also grades papers VERY subjective, be sure to memorize quotes and dates to prove you know the reading.

I took his course my last semester of college and I can honestly say he is a very good professor. Lectures can be long, but he presents his material well. He is very fair in how he evaluates his students- if you prove to him you know enough about the topic on the tests you'll get at least a B. A lot of reading though! Overall good course.

Dr. Penyak is very passionate about Latin American history and it shows. The class is doable, but you need to work hard. Every week you either have an assignment, quiz, or both. His tests are straightforward essays and easy to do well on if you read the material. If you didn't read the material or take good notes, you won't do well. Lots of reading

He's a very nice man, but the class is pretty tedious. There is a lot of written work, reading quizzes, and he grades very subjectively. The study guides he gives you aren't really "study guides" but more "know everything you read, everything in lecture, and everything from films". He's better to take if you are a history major.

Great professor. Knows what he is talking about. Easy grader. Gives options on what assignments you have to do. Short essay exams and lots of assignment opportunities. lectures are sometimes dry but if you pay attention you dont need to read the text. gives great guidelines on what he expects. Would definitely recommend taking his course.

Great teacher! Took this class for diversity credits, very bearable even if you are not interested in history. Midterm, Final and hw assignments (2 pg summaries due at least once a week) - easy! Taking him again for Hist 126

HE'S AN AWESOME TEACHER! But you have to read study and do homework and the tests are usually short essays but he is an extremely fair grader would reccommend him for a humanities class.

Dr. P is a really knowledgeable and good professor. He knows the material very well, has a lot of experience, and is very kind and open. Reading is not bad as long as you don't fall behind. Sometimes a little long. Is NOT a hard grader on papers, as long as you can write somewhat intelligently. This is the second class I took with him, and second A

Not a bad class for non-history majors needing diversity credits. The work is manageable, all exam questions comes from the texts. He is a nice guy, and the work is spread out. Shows 2 movies a semester. I will probably get an A without a ton of effort. Take him

This guy sucks..for a 100 level course, expect to read 60 pages of text that will make you yawn and then be quizzed on tiny details..grades papers like a composition class instead of history..take this class if you hate yourself
