Obtuse and unhelpful. Unclear instructions on a lot of things. Syllabus was long, lectures are wordy. Ended up dropping this course and just reading the textbook instead.

I took Prof Fisk for Data Structure and Databases. The class was challenging and really expected us to learn in the classroom and by our selves at home. But I learned a lot from this class. He also challenged me to use the database work outside of the classroom and he helped me get a job with the county which was great experience.

I was super excited about taking this class, due to my huge interest in cyber-security. Unfortunately, this was one of worst classes that I have taken at Chico State. Over the course of the entire semester, the professor only lectured us about 3 times. In addition, the grading requirements were unclear.

Dr. Fisk seems to be very knowledgeable about computer science, but he's not good at explaining it. His guidelines for group projects were confusing and my group had to approach him several times for help.

Instruction was horrible to non-existent. He has a certain smugness, or arrogance, that permeates his lectures; combine that with the fact his lectures were filled with political rants, and you have nearly an Orwellian environment.

This instructor was not good. He spent far too much time on his personal politics, going so far as to complain(more than once) about the School Administration during class. Lecture attendance is mandatory, but very little is ever accomplished.

I took Data Structures with Fisk. He is a good teacher. The class was smooth-going and he was very helpful and forgiving. If you have to implement what you learn in this class, then it won't be easy no matter how you look at it, so I gave the difficulty a 'moderate' instead of 'easy.' I do wish I had come out of it with a bit more knowledge though.

I just took this class thinking of switching my major from business to BIS. This teaching ruined computers for me and he will do the same for you. Nothing he talks about is on the tests,but the labs are simple.

His lectures are boring and aren't relevant to the material we're supposed to learn. His style of lecture is if all of us know the material to begin with. His tests aren't related to the textbooks that much and are usually obscure lecture facts from his class. His grading is also very hard.

If you are thinking of being an MIS major, don't let Len Fisks horrible teaching style discourage you. Other classes in MIS are not like this. It's unfortunate that MIS majors have to take this class.

Comment:

One of the worst professors yet. This guy grades like a **** and sucks ass helping people. THe textbook is only needed for the labs, which take up most of the time for this class. The textbook is also full of typos for the lab coding and time is wasted going through the lines of code to find the books mistakes. Lectures are a snooze and supposedly the exams come from the lecture notes instead of the book. When I took this class after the first exam the majority of the class was failing. TERMINATE HIM!

CSCI 110 Computers impact on society. Complete tard. Fisk plumps himself down and proceds to bore the class. Terrible professor, expecially grade wise. completely vague as to what is expected. UNFAIR! AVOID!!!!

Without a CSCI background this class is worthless. We spend more time on news items pertaining to computer science than we do on the class material. It is an easy class, but it is extremely boring and not worthwile. Also, Fisk has a habit of making inappropriate comments during class, yuck!

I didn't have any problems with this class. It's an easy class and just what I expected. Tests and assignments were fair and straightforward. Ppt got boring, but the constant student interaction kept things interesting. Didn't take a whole lot away from this class, but how can you?

Like powerpoint? Did you read the book? Lectures are ppt pulled from the book. Holy lord was it boring. The projects are as good as you make them, so the class wasn't a total loss.
