leon Raikes is an excellent professor. I highly recommend him as a teacher of the Humanities. You won't find a more respectful and understanding teacher. At times I wished I studied humanities instead of Engineering. Also, he's lacking in the madness which some professors push upon their students. Take his class if you can, You won't regret it.

This was the best classprofessor I've ever had at UMaine. Raikes genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He makes the information easy to understand and class is always enjoyable. I took this course during the summer and there were no exams. Grades are based solely off of assignments, a group project, and a presentation.

Leon was the best professor I had at UMaine. He genuinely cares about every student learning as much as they can in the class. The class time is worth attending every time, and he is energetic throughout each class. I wish I could have him for all of my other classes.

Professor Raikes is GREAT! The best professor I've had on the UMaine campus. He is very loyal to his students and really cares about your progress in his class. He is a very easy grader and made me love the class. Take ENG 317 with Raikes!

Professor Raikes is great, however his class isn't challenging in the slightest. I don't really feel that I gained that much from the course, but he is very accommodating and understanding. I felt like his expectations were a bit low for a 300-level class, but he is a wonderful professor.

This guy was absolutly perfect. He somehow made the class extremely simple, but at the same time I learned a ton. He is incredibly clear with what he expects and is consistent with his grading. A+ in my book.

Raikes is an awesome guy, a great teacher. I was dreading taking ENG 317 (the boring) writing class during the summer, but I actually learned a lot! He makes the class interesting and fun and is extremely understanding and helpful. He usually let us out really early too. I suggest taking this class from Raikes if you have to take it.
