Comment:
The mandatory attendance was rough especially when he did it by passing around a sign up sheet during class. Other than that he taught the class well. The middle portion got pretty difficult but nothing crazy. Essays were easy and you can do a third one as extra credit.

This class is probably one of the easiest 200 level courses in the department. Tests were easy if you payed attention in discussion. Lecture is mandatory but helpful. Work load is very minimal and the essays are a joke. Definitely would take this class again.

Leonce is an incredible and passionate professor who really cares about the success of his students. His class consists of 2 tests, a final, and two easy essays. His class is challenging, but if you go to class and read the textbook, then the tests should be easy. Do the practice questions he posts, and the tests will have no surprises!

Leonce was a great Econ 204 professor. He does a good job of taking a tedious subject and making it engaging. Two video essays and an extra for extra credit optional (definitely do it). Two mid-terms and a final. Do the practice questions he suggests you to do and you'll do fine.

I like Leonce as a professor. The only thing that was annoying about his lectures were the fact that you cannot read his handwriting. Other than that, he was a very fair professor. Attendence is required so be sure not to miss any lectues or discussions. The TA's were very helpful too. A good class to take.

Lectures are dense, and a must go-to. Solid lecturer but be sure to study on your own to maintain the information. An A is possible with what can be light, but consistent work.

Lectures are long and attendance is mandatory. Doesn't allow any unexcused skips which is annoying. Leonce is really nice but the class material is hard either way. The tests aren't terrible because you can choose between different questions to answer. Probably the best for 204.

I loved this class. Although it was tough, the professor was clearly passionate and willing to help. Warning, if you are not interested in ECON do not take this, it is a lot of material. Nevertheless, highly recommend 204 with this professor, definitely a great learning experience.

Leonce Ndikumana was one of my top favorite professors. He inspires interest in the subject like no other and he clearly conveys his knowledge, passion, and skill in macroeconomics. Lectures are a little long but Leonce keeps them interesting and has a great sense of humor. Tests require a little math and there are a couple short papers. Great man.

One of the best economics professors at Umass. His notes are very clear in class just make sure to actually go to class and takes notes because how do you expect to not show up and pass class? He is VERY helpful at office hours and also has two offices so he's flexible. gives people candy after meetings. he is really the best

If you're an Econ major and can't do well in this class, you should really consider a different field. Grade is midterm, final, discussion attendance, and two 2-3 pg papers. Everything was a breeze except for the second midterm, make sure to understand the algebra. Leonce's lecture notes are decent.

Leonce is one of the better Econ professors at UMass. If you go to class and read the book you will do fine. You just have to be careful because once you start to fall behind it's very easy to just fall farther and farther. Also even though it is a pretty big lecture hall class Leonce is great at answering individual questions.

There are questions online for you to go over for each chapter which is nice, but you have to guess whether you're right or wrong because he won't give an answer set.

Took this class last year. Overall not too challenging class. The tests were a couple questions but multiple parts. You also get to choose between them. As long as you read the book and notes and try to understand the big ideas, you should do fine.

Very straightforward teacher. Nice man to talk to. AVOID the 8am at all costs! It is very hard to stay awake for, and once you miss one thing, you feel lost forever. My TA was awful, Leonce proably does a better job of explaining.
