He's so sweet. He was a great teacher. I am bummed he is retired but he may guest lecture from time to time. His lectures are straightforward and he is very clear. His curve is awesome and he is a very understanding professor. I wish he wasn't retiring!

Grades really easy, on a curve. Most of the stuff he teaches in class are on tests so the book is just there to help but not neccessary. If anything, any intro book will be fine. Homework everyday but if u go talk to him he usually gives u the answer. Really nice and easy to talk to

Dr. Tomely is extremely helpful and very passionate about his job. Attendance in this lab is mandatory... if you miss more than 2 labs, you may not pass. He is very cool about re-scheduling make ups. He said he is retiring soon..so take him while you can! This lab is easier than the other GE ones. Just write the reports exactly as he wants them!

Very easy class. Tomley is very helpful and explains things clearly. Only went to about 2/3 of his classes(too early) but still walked away with an A. Tests can be tricky as a lot of problems comes from lectures. All the people that said he was bad are just really dumb and lazy, cause you only need half a brain to pass this class.

he's awsome physic professor. I wish i had him for the rest of my physics courses. He made it easier for you to understand the concept. Tests are hard, but he made big curves. As long as you above median score, you are fine. He suggests you to drop the course if you don't think you can handle it. But it's not impossible to get A's and B's. I got A-

Guy is probably the easiest lab instructor next to Becker, but Tomley is the easiest of the two. 50% and you pass the lab. Some of the quizzes are crap, but its just physics and as long as you prepare your reports properly his lab section is easy.

Prof. Tomley is the best. Clear, methodical notes, very approachable and will help you do HW problems during office hrs. Exams are challenging but if u set the problem up his way, he'll give u 7 or 8/10 pts! Don't even have to solve! Since the grade is curved, that's practically a B+/A- just to set it up! Will give u points on HW for trying.

Dr. Tomley's class is not easy but it's really fun and interesting. He's funny and enjoys teaching Astronomy. His class really makes you think. It's not easy but you will learn a lot. There is a huge curve so an A is very possible.

I took him for the beginning astro course and the astro lab. He was not an easy teacher and didn't give you an A. But he was interesting, had a weird sense of humor, and was always clear and helpful. I got a B in both my classes but I had fun and learn

Professor Tomely knows how to teach physics the correct way and he loves what he does. However, his exams are extremely difficult. You need to work all the homework problems, go to his office hours, and practice some more in order to get a B/B-; smart people get A's in class.

Not easy, though his lecture is well-prepared 2nd to none. To get A, don't miss any lecture, finish 160 problems: 67 "turn-in" homework, 51 lecture examples , and 42 recommended for midterm/final. class average: C- because most don't do all 160 problems! I did all! I expect A/A-. Best physics prof

Dr. Tomley is VERY easy. People who say he's hard are just not going to class. His teaching methods are very methodical and straightforward. Extremley helpful during office hours and grades you based on how the class does. Attend class, do the work and ur guarenteed to pass.

he is a helpful and pretty easy teacher. it helps to show up and study, and if you do that then you're set. there's a journal that you have to keep up with, but it's really easy and in most cases i did mine right before class. this is by far my favorite ge class. yay astronomy!!!

He is a very knowledgeable professor. You have to be compeletly dumb not to pass his class. He has a big curve on the exams. Do all the hw, go to all the classes to get attendence credit and you do fine. Its hard to get an A or B in his class though. I did all the hw and went to all classes, I got C

Overall, hes a really good prof. Puts an admirable effort when you come to his office for help. He doesnt say "Its in the text. Go home and read it" like most college profs. HOWEVER! make sure you do things his way or else it could be a pain in the ass for you and him.
