Comment:

Professor Hsu has a heavy accent, so I recommend sitting near the front. She is very knowledgeable and will explain thoroughly, but she isn't very approachable. Her office hours aren't very extensive either. Attendance isn't technically mandatory, but exams mostly cover the lecture material, so you should attend as many as possible.

Hsu is such a nice and caring woman. Her class is very easy, all your exams and quizzes are open notes. Take if you want a good grade without trying too hard.

This Prof is very smart. She can not convey her knowledge to someone else by any means though. She is asked to elaborate and doesn't even succeed with doing this even when asked a specific question. She really makes a more simple math class to be so difficult because she does not teach you and it is too difficult to teach the material yourself.

Professor Hsu is a great woman. She has a very thick accent and speaks low but you don't need to pay attention in lecture to do well on the exams. All quizzes are open notes and for tests you get a front and back 8x11 paper to write whatever you want so they're so easy if you teach yourself a few concepts and write them down. Take her class!

Professor Hsu seems like a great person, but she is a terrible teacher! Her accent makes things very tough. She spends a lot of time presenting notes and writing out problems on the board, but rarely gets the class involved. While she is available for office hours, they are a complete waste of time as I got nothing out of them. AVOID HER CLASS!!

Professor Hsu knows what she is talking about, but has a hard time explaining it. There is a tad of a language barrier because she is so soft spoken. Class attendance is not mandatory, but you may not understand the notes if you do not attend. Beware if you take the optional final, it may end up bringing your grade down!

Professor Hsu is a really nice lady and she definitely knows Statistics, but she should not be teaching. She's very difficult to understand because her accent is very strong (which she cannot control) but she does not present the material clearly at all either. My grade for each section went from an A to a C+ after having to change professors.

It is obvious that she know's what she's talking about and she tries really hard to teach you what she knows. However, she is very quiet, monotone, and there is a slight language (not barrier) problem. You must be extremely focused the entire class to figure out what she's talking about. Pay attention (a lot) and make comprehensive notes 4 urself.

She is a very sweet lady but I will admit, it is difficult to understand her most of the time but you will get use to it. Most of the work is done in groups including the quizzes and the tests are open book. If you are not willing to do the work inside and outside of the class room then do not take her. She's not stupid, she knows you're texting...

Hsu is always willing to help with work and explain something that you do not understand. She can be hard to understand sometimes but that's not her fault and no reason not to take her class. She is all business but not demanding. Tests were open note, quizzes were group and open note, and homework wasn't graded. Overall I would take her again

Honestly, she's a great at her job, but she isn't so much at teaching. It's slightly hard to understand her, she assumes you should know the course material, and when asked how to do something she just gives you the answer. It's hard to learn because the course went being hard to harder and there was really no help, and the class was self-taught.

Absolutely horrible professor. The class is completely self taught, I don't know why I ever bothered going to class. She gave last semesters class the final exam as a take home and didn't give our semesters class the final as a take home. She is very hard to follow and basically read straight off her slides. Could have taught it better myself

It was clear even on the first day that she can't teach because if you have a question, she just tells you the answer without explaining how to do the problem. Everything is open notes except the tests, so doing well on them is hard if you rely on the book for the formulas. If you can, find another professor because Dr. Hsu is terrible.

She doesn't really know how to teach. Just reads off powerpoints the whole time and doesn't really explain anything. This is definitely more of a self taught class than anything else, which is fine if you fully understand the material after reading about it in the book. If not, then find another professor to take this class. Horrible teacher!

Cannot understand or hear one word Hsu says unless you sit right in front of her. No leeway on tests or quizzes. If you think you got a answer right and she was wrong she will never admit it. I was .5 off from an A and I went to see what I could do to get that and she said no and didn't care at all.

If you work hard and apply yourself you will be fine. If you are looking for an easy professor and an easy A, Hsu is not the right professor. She is adorable and a very nice lady and responds promptly to emails. Her tests are open notebook so if you take good notes and study you will be fine. But an A will definitely not be handed to you.

This is the worst professor I have ever had! Reads from her powerpoint verbatim, clearly bored with the material. I will give it to her that she allows open note quizzes however, that does nothing for a student who doesn't know how to apply the formulas. I would never recommend her to anyone who takes their GPA seriously b/c it will take a hit!!

Just pay attention and she is not that hard to understand! She's a nice lady, just accented and soft-spoken. Everything is open book/notes, optional final exam and she goes over every homework problem. Group SPSS projects/group quizzes, and all notes are on blackboard. Can't get much easier than this class!
