Took this as an upper division GE. She is probably the most responsive and understanding professor I've ever had at SDSU. Extremely quick to respond, and will work with you to make up grades. Forgot to do a discussion board and she still gave me full credit when I asked to resubmit. Busy work, but not a hard class

Comment:

Took for Exploration requirements. Readings were interesting, never boring to read so it was a good breather course. Requirement to interview an American Indian from a tribe. Find your interviewee early because the longer you wait the harder it will be to find one. Discussion every week on the assigned week reading, easy to do.

Comment:

Class involves tons of reading, but isn't hard. A bit disorganized-sent out the answer key to the midterm and then was "disappointed in us" when people aced the exam so she removed the multiple choice part midway through the window to take it. Grading seemed inconsistent. To be fair, it seems like she could be interesting, just not online.

I have had Linda Locklear as an instructor for many classes. She has always been extremely fair & her courses insightful & interesting. She instructs Am Ind Contemp Society online yet, she is VERY available via phone/email/office hours. Her online class is very well structured & very clear. I recommend this course if you have never done online.

Good teacher but be prepared to READ. The work isn't exactly difficult. She gives you a topic and you post on the discussion board once a week. 3-4 quizzes, interviewarticle review, midterm, and final. But as I mentioned above- READING galore. Textbook needed for 1st half of semester (cheap).

I've a pro at online classes, but not this one. My problem was the lack of clarity and communication; in an online class, I rely on these 2 things heavily to understand the expectations. But she didn't respond to e-mails for important things, and her wording was so off I seriously wondered if English was a 2nd or 3rd language...

Easy online class...lots of busy work, such as discussion boards, reading write ups, like 8 quizzes, and one final. All pretty easy, she doesn't give out perfect grades easily, which was annoying but if you do all the assignments you will be fine. Take it with a friend and you will be great!

I love online classes,this is the WORST online prof EVER never avail,never puts up correct info,leaves students questioning everything takes days to respond or fix problems EVEN posted the wrong grades at end of semester now we all have to do extra credit.HORRIBLE if you need ANY help/or have tough time online.OTherwise easy class,whiny,but easy.

If you enjoy learning about Native American issues, this is an excellent class. She has structured the assignments so that you must absorb the information and think critically on it. I knew very little before this class and leaving it, I have a better understanding of native issues and a better grasp on our country's history. Great teacher.

Very nice teacher and makes the class fun. Group work, a few easy readings, and reasonable tests. Posts lecture notes on blackboard so there's no need to take notes in class.

This class is a breeze. Get your group together as soon as you can. The tests are based off of lecture. You need the book for the weekly assignments. Don't take this class if you don't like doing group work. Overall, she is a nice lady and is willing to help you.

This class had a bit of busy work, tests werent that bad, but just make sure that your grades are accurate and match up with her gradebook. It's an easy class but you just have to do book reports, chapter questions - just **** work basically.

Easy one day a week class. can easily miss five of them and get a B or show up to all to get an easy A. Papers are easy, tests are easy, group presentation can be put together in one day. take this class, cause it's also pretty interesting. You learn stuff that old history classes didn't teach.
