I had Dr. Shaw for Feminist Theory when I was 19 years old, at Cal State Long Beach. I am 52 now, and she is one of my most memorable teachers. It was a superb class... if you like to talk theory and history and get into the WHY of everything, Shaw was catnip. She is scrupulously fair, with tremendous sympathy for our youthful impatience.

Have had several classes with her. Lots of reading but you'll be glad you stuck it out! AMAZING instructor, really helps you learn, approachable, fair but has expectations. Try the welfare policy or qualitative, if you don't like her of the topics then just go elsewhere, that's the glory of college.

Social welfare is not the most exciting subject, but she makes it interesting. She is very liberal but really likes to be challenged by the conservative view.Her midterms are not hard if you go to class & do most of the reading.
