She changed the essay format into blogs! Oh. My. Goodness. YES. This, I believe is more representative of peoples effort want interest in GRST. I do feel that her lecture style is interesting, but not erratic like how some people put it. Perhaps it was different? If you don't attend class, your gonna have a much harder time with the exams.

She changed the entire syllabus for this semester, and the changes worked! She basically tells you exactly what to study for tests and if you do that you'll do really good. She is very enthusiastic about what she does so that makes lectures interesting, you need to attend lectures cause what she is saying is not only important but helpful for exams

IDK what the fuss is about she is an amazing lecturer. I believe she changed the whole syllabus of the course so it's easier now. Her lectures are very on point and quizzes and MTs are honestly just based off the lectures she gives, so come to class! Very friendly and makes jokes as well! Will defintely not fall asleep in class!

This is an outdated course. Dr. hughes expects far too much of students in a 300-level course. The expectations for exams, and assignments were obscure and poorly laid out in D2L. She expects you to memorize unrealistic amounts of information. Tests are hard to prepare for. This course obliterated my desire to ever take any GRST course ever again.

Dr. Hughes is well-intentioned but her class was a real headache. I love Roman art and architecture and yet I could barely bring myself to focus due to her erratic teaching style, condescending attitude and grating behaviour. Expectations for tests and essays are also way too high for a 300-level GRST class. Would definitely avoid in the future.

Although the content is interesting, Lisa Hughes is definitely outdated for this course. Her method of teaching is erratic, inconsistent and expects you to regurgitate loads of info in a short period of time. Would not recommend at all if you're looking for a GPA booster.

In hindsight, this was one of the better classes I took at UC and Lisa Hughes was an excellent professor throughout. It's not an easy class but she gives you plenty of help and resources. Be sure to prepare early for exams and the final paper with these resources. Prof was funny, very knowledgeable, and slightly eccentric.

Dr. Hughes is funny and her lectures are fairly interesting. She is also willing to help if you have questions. Tests are fair. She gives you the essay questions beforehand- definitely take the time to prepare!

This class was one of the hardest i had to complete in uni. There was a midterm and a final both required an essay to complete in one hour alongside 3 short answers which required memorizing important facts for 50 images. The final essay was brutal as it was 10-15 pages long with a minium of ten sources for the biblography. Never taking again.

Lisa is easily one of my top 2 or 3 fave profs. Amazing. You have to work for your mark- she will not give you a good mark without you working for it, and why would she? This is uni, ppl. Will continue to take classes with her wherewhen I can. Superb.

Lisa waited years to teach this class and her passion for the topic showed. 3 "midterms" and a final research paper (topic of your choice), no final. Each exam was not only open book you could have your laptop and prepare a week in advance for it with the topic given. Thought provoking class, Lisa pushes you to really think about things. 1010

She is a terrible professor. She had no participation grade, but if you miss classes she will downgrade your exams. When you ask for the feedback, she gives some stupid excuse why you get a bad grade. For example you wrote not enough, etc. Which doesn't make sense. Terrible marker. Gives unfair grades.

Lisa is a great prof, very engaging and thought provoking. A previous student complained you had to memorize images in this class. It's an art history class, DUH. Lisa is very willing to help and she's very passionate in her topic so yes, she gets off track but she only tests on what you've covered in class. Very clear exam requirements.

Avoid this class if you can. Seems to be a theme at UofC to cover as many images as humanly possible in a sitting. Its about QUALITY not QUANTITY, she doesnt get that. Instead its memorize a thousand different images, regurgitate, rinse and repeat. Lisa Hughes may be intelligent, but that doesnt make a good TEACHER.

Not the best teacher I've experienced. She favors certain students (this was experienced considerably in the Fall 2013 semester). She raised certain people's marks to the next letter grade but refused to do it for everyone else. Nice enough lady, and tests were quite easy. Prepare for disorganization beyond belief, though!

Lisa is a nice individual, however, this does not justify her being a good teacher. She has horrible time management skills... We didn't even finish half the course. Changed the course schedule EVERY week. Absolutely ridiculous. She even emailed us the night BEFORE our exam to add study material. Very dry lectures as well. Avoid her at all costs.

Time management sucked, but that's okay, because I never showed up to class anyway, so less work for me. She is not a boring individual, it is just a shame that her field of expertise happens to put me to sleep. That said, good class. If you show up you will definitely ace all of her tests. Also, read the textbook. It helps too

I found this class really easy for sure, a definite GPA booster. She takes a lot of her questions for the tests from the quizzes she gives you online to study from. Although she is really slow at marking tests and returning marks. And doesn't seem to care about the class too much. But she does seem knowledgeable in her area

Really unorganized, and changes course syllabus often. By the end of November, have gotten through 11/21 powerpoints. What she says in class isn't the same as the information as on the ppts as well. Apparently, she says she does not make the ppts.

She is very enthusiastic which makes lectures more interesting. However, that doesn't make up for the severe disorganization. Changing the reading schedule AFTER reading days so that students have to read 3 whole chapters in a few hours is pathetic. Too much work for an elective. There are other courses, take those.
