Dr. Pollard is super passionate about what she teaches however her lectures are hard to follow, she just talk the whole time. If you're taking notes you can't take them fast enough, if you try to just listen you have nothing to look back on which makes it difficult. She gets in moods as well and will randomly yell at students for little things.

Doctor Pollard was a pleasure to have for a freshman level class. She understands the methodology of instruction, which is to say that she recognizes that freshman level work won't be as polished, by nature, as graduate student work. She explains broad concepts well, and is always always always willing to (go out of her way to) help students.

DO NOT TAKE HER!! Dr. Pollard's lectures are very scattered leaving you more confused than anything. She is very passionate about what she teaches but lectures go very fast and are all over the place. She makes you get 5 books, 4 of them which you have to write papers on. Not an easy A class, you will spend tons of time studying.

I loved Dr. Pollards class. She really does make learning fun. You do have to read a lot and write papers, but you will learn how to write a good history paper. She has a lot of passion for what she's teaching. She will even take the time to learn names. The tests are kinda hard, but not bad if you study. I wish I could take more of her classes.

Great professor. Her lectures are sometimes long and boring but she gives you everything you need to know. You read 4 books and write two 2 page papers, and two 4 page papers. There's a midterm which consists of about 10 multiple choice, 3 short answer, and 2 essay questions. She really knows what she's talking about but don't expect an easy A.

Dr. Pollard is an amazing teacher that really loves what she is teaching. The class is usually a lecture but she makes it interesting and gives you a list of topics she is going to talk about that day. She has little quizzes that help bump your grade up and she really flexible. I hated history before this class but Dr. Pollard changed that.

I had Pollard for HST 103. I like her a lot. There's a lot of reading and we wrote four papers on whole books. We had a midterm and a final which were fairly easy. She's very easy going and she tries to make lectures interesting.

FOR 103/104: Bored with the subject of history as you learned in high school? Take Pollard, she will make history interesting in ways your high school teacher never could. FOR UPPERLEVEL: Bored with relearning American/European history? Take Pollard, as you probably are not familiar with Middle Eastern history. It will be a refreshing change.

This class had a lot of books, but it really helped to understand the material. Most of them are small memoirs and such. Dr. Pollard truly loves her work, which makes her a great professor. She does grade tougher than other professors on papers, but if you don't half-ass it there's no reason you shouldn't pass. Tests in this class were papers.

HST 103 was a decent class. Pollard had a lot of trouble with the clicker technology, which wasted a good 10 minutes every day. Decent professor, sometimes funny, fairly clear. Loves foreign terms, be prepared to do a bit of studying for tests. 2 short reading-based argument papers, not too bad. Class can be difficult if you're not into history.

One of the best history profs. UNCW has; a fantastic teacher. Readings can be boring, but the lectures are lively and engaging (not easy to do with 100+ students!)

Not a big history fan, but she made it GREAT!! Awesome lecturer and very helpful and approachable. Attendance is not mandatory, but you really really need to go to class or you won't pass. Read the txt for about 1/3 or the exams and extra credit. Boring readings, but as long as you get the gist, you're golden. Go to class!

Very interesting teacher grades harshly on your papers but really does want her students to do well. Holds a paper review and requires 3 tests and 3 papers during the semester. If you enjoy history she's a pretty good teacher and is very educated. Writing skills are a must as your grade is based largely off papers. overall i would def. recommend

There are four tests and three papers, they are not too difficult, but they require some work. TAKE HER CLASS. She is a good teacher and always willing to help!

Worst class I have ever taken. Do not take this class unless you are the type of person who doesn't need sleep because her class will knock you out and that is the only way to know the information on the tests. So horribly boring and difficult.
