Great professor, but she can be intimidating and brutal which amounts to the critical side of her. I would recommend if you want to be strong in English and to take things you read and analyze them in a deeper way.

Professor Stepanski is an absolutely wonderful teacher! She makes her classes interesting because they are very multidisciplinary- even though they are english classes, she brings in a lot of information from other areas. Her classes feel like more of a discussion than a lecture, and she ties all of the readings to each other and to life in general

She can be intimidating at first but she is very nice once you get to know her. She can be critical, but she only is because the real world is critical and (if you are an English major) you have to get use to your work being critiqued. Would recommend her, but only to people who really want to improve their writing.

I had her for The Haves and Have-Nots class, and I loved her. She's extremely nice and not hard... Obviously very intelligent and very helpful as far as improving your writing goes. She does grade papers critically, but not unfairly. Not a hard class. She's an excellent professor, imo... The best one I had at Emmanuel

She talks about herself a lot. When she revises your paper and go to the arc and proofread it yourself she still ends up giving you a low grade with crazy proofreads that she didn't even mention, when Critical Inquiry is supposed to be a teaching freshman course. Would pick another teacher.

People confuse sucking-up with interest. English majors passionate about the field LOVE Stepanski because she is energetic and loves new ideas. If you don't like to actually work then don't take Stepanski. She is brilliant and puts in just as much effort as she expects. Honetly, she is my role model in life.

Great teacher, her ability to effectively teach proves why Emmanuel assigned her the Department Chair position. I feel as if people do not like her simply because she assigns heaps of work and grades sincerely. Her demeanor may come off as quite rigid and austere, but I found her to be personable and respectable. Clear and concise. Great teacher!
