Taken class at the same time as the previous student who mentions about whole class meeting up. One that didn't happen, well at least I wasn't invited. Correct about midterm and final as only grades, but if you memorize the notes and learn to apply the ideas class was fairly easy. Also takes attendance during class and helps with grade as well.

Athens makes no sense. He pronounces names of philosophers and sociologists wrong, he gets his lectures from Wikipedia it seems like, and he gets corrected in class by students. Its embarrassing. He only does a midterm and final, which are really hard. My entire class got together and we couldnt understand this material at all

He is kind of hard to understand sometimes. no nightly homework and you watch A LOT of movies, definitely need to pay attention to them which is fine because they're interesting also... DO NOT GET THE TEXTBOOK , YOU DO NOT NEED IT

Found Mr. Athens to be incredibly insightful and thorough. He presents in a creative and professional manner, acknowledging inquiries with very clear and descriptive answers. He is a stimulating professor that exacts critical thinking and leaves little uncovered. I found his course enlightening and would encourage others to take it as well.

If you can take any professor but Athens, do it. Athens sounds like he gets all his knowledge from law and order, and he makes you buy this ridiculous book he wrote for like $30 so he makes profit off students. He only grades a midterm and final, and your only help is the chicken scratch he writes on the board. You learn nothing, and not an easy A

Really good guy. Only a midterm and final in the class and he tells you what questions to expect on them. If you took the notes he writes before class and study the casebook you should be fine

Do not be fooled! Ilegible handwriting , Scrambled notes from memory. Not willing to help students. Test are confusing. Theres more than one answer, Doesn't review test. Forces students to buy his raunchy book. The worst professor at SHU! Does not care about students! Don't ask a question; it annoys him!

First off, the required book for this class is poorly written by him-poor quality, the page numbers are hand written and its just copies of Sage Journals and newspaper aticles. Horrible handwriting you can't make out what he is writing. No test reviews. Gets annoyed when you ask him questions. Notes are irrevalant to test. Stay away!

Took him twice, probably the best professor I've taken at SHU. The lectures are incredibly interesting, and you get 5 extra points on your midterm and final for just showing up to class. Tests are out of 50 questions, but he adds extra questions for extra credit points, so the midterm and final you can sometimes get a max of 115 points. Take him!

He is super nice and funny. He old school teaches the old school way. Just a midterm and a final. Go to all his classes and you get extra credit. I got over 100 on his midterm. You don't really have to read the books, but they do help with the test. Take his class, you wont regret it.

Criminology. Attendance was taken everyday for extra credit points on the exam. He writes all of his notes across the chalkboard and you have to copy them down. There's a midterm and final...that's it. all multiple choice. He has the craziest laugh and tells bizarre stories. The class is interesting and will keep you awake.

Took him for a few criminal justice classes and he is great, one of the best profs at SHU. He gives two tests and the answers all come from notes so make sure you take them down. He takes attendance but gives you extra points for good attendance. he has a crazy laugh but it makes the class wake up. Great prof overall and willing to help you.

Lonnie is the best... he's entertaining... it's next to impossible to fall alseep in this guy's class.. he's so animated and he doesn't hold back with the language. He writes out ALL of his notes on the board (his hand writting could use a little work) which helps out tons with his tests. You get used to his accent. By far my favorite teacher at SHU.. he made the expirence bearable!
