Super tough grader, hands out grading criteria after assignments are handed in, and the gives little feedback on assignments.

I've taken two classes with Lori before and loved them both. This class was online and I definitely prefer a face-to-face class with her. This one was hard to reach her, she didn't engage with the class. Didn't really give good instructions or feedback on assignments. Wouldn't take an online class with her again.

Lori is a really nice person but her lectures are very hard to pay attention to as she has no pps or notes. and to make it harder she goes off on rants 100 times every class so you never know if the rant is a part of the class or just her telling a story. her exams are regurgitating definitions so hopefully you read the text book a bunch of times.

Lori is obviously very passionate about the topics she teaches. She is very opinionated and rarely uses the textbook. She relates theories to personal stories which I find helpful. She tells you exactly what will be on the exam, however you need to know word-for-word, the definition she gives you. When in doubt, write more!!!!!

Lori is a great, but opinionated prof. You are graded on a midterm, 10 page paper and a final. She tells you EVERYTHING that will be on the tests. The research paper wasnt to hard because you pick whatever topic you want. Go to class as she points out important topics. Memorize her defintions since this is what she looks for on tests.

A strong and disciplined, yet understanding and caring and empathetic person. She wants her students to succeed, and will help you do that, if she sees effort on the students part. A human rights activist, and former crime analyst, she uses real world examples, while explaining formatting of an essay. Makes it enlightening and not so boring.

I loved Lori! She was so passionate. She followed the textbook nicely and highlighted only what you needed to know. The material was very interesting. Lori told us everything to know for the midterms and final and there were no surprises. As long as you study you'll do fine, I got over a 95 on both midterms. Just memorize definitions and concepts.

Worst teacher ever! Reply the emails quickly but does not help at all. Give her expectation for the class but never list the rubrics before due. Slow grader, took a month for grading a ppt. The guidance is extremely unclear and feedbacks do not help at all. if you want to get a A+ grade, just write as much as you could. That is the only rubrics.

Lori is extremely experienced in what she teaches. I enjoy her teaching method of oral lessons. However, she is an extremely hard marker. You need word for word definitions and thousands of examples to get a full mark, which is ridiculous. She doesn't care if you understand in your own words, she wants the textbook regurgitated back to her.

Lori really knows what she is talking about. You can tell she is extremely passionate about what she teaches. Love that fact that she's a feminist. The midterms and final are all about memorization though. Basically have to memorize all your notes. And even then she's still an extremely hard marker.

I like Lori and I like her teaching methods but I can't say I would take another class for one reason: She wants word for word memorization on her tests. She literally told us "I don't care if you understand it but I want it regurgitated on my tests". I don't like that and for that reason I was disappointed by her.

Lori is a great prof. I took SOC 201 online and found it extremely interesting and a great class to take as an elective online. I didn't use the textbook, but it is good to have for citation in the take home final as we'll as the paper. There is only a paper, submitted presentation (from the paper), a couple forum posts, and a take home final.

I always heard amazing things about Lori through other students that have taken her classes. Maybe it was the fact that this class was online, but it was by far the worst class I've taken. Does not give clear feedback, expects WAY too much for the amount of work she gives. Does not explain assignments adequately and does not engage with the class.

Terrible instructor. Does not answer questions clearly, and doesn't seem to care. If you take a summer course, you are on your own. She doesn't care... she's on vacation. She also does not want to meet out of class.

She's most certainly one of the kindest and wisest professor's I've come across. She made the subject interesting and inspired me in many ways. Never hesitate to ask her any questions if you're confused about the subject. She has the clearest answers and is always available when you need her. Highly Recommend!!

I felt that Lori would make an amazing professor for another class. While she has amazing experience and knowledge I felt a little cheated by taking the class from her. She'd often go off topic,go on rants and refers to her other sociology classes. Exams were pure-memorization(littleunderstandingrequired) and I do not feel like I left with anything

Lectures are often disorganized & she rants. HUGE feminist. But if you attend class & take good notes you will do good. 1 midterm, 1 paper (10 pages, lets you pick topic) & 1 final. She expects word for word answers on exams, so memorize all definitions. Text needed for defintions, but you dont need to read it all. No powerpoint, no UR courses.

She gives quite a bit of reading, mostly articles. She also gives quite confusing instructions with discussion forums. Not a clear marker, and does not post any feedback. She also admitted to mixing up my final paper's mark w/ someone else. She posted I got a 70% so I asked for feedback, and she replied it's actually 85%, still no feedback.

Great prof! 2 midterms, 10pg paper, 1 final. If you attend class and take notes you will be fine! Memorize your notes for exams and you will do great! She gives word for word answers in class. Don't need to read text if you attend class and take notes. She lets you pick topic for 10pg paper. She is a feminist and will let you know it!
