Dr. Cohen is a good teacher for basic Psychology but be prepared to go off topic. You wont need to buy the book unless you skip class a lot, his tests are based mostly on the lectures but you can get by fairly well with just the book.

Nice guy who knows his stuff. Has a lot of good stories that make class interesting. The whole class is writing down what he says during lectures, there are no power point slides or visual aid, but it's not bad. The test content does not correlate 100% with what is taught in class always but good grades can still be scored. Tons of extra credit.

Hands down the best professor I've had at SVSU. Funny, sweet, and really cares about his students. Study the notes, go to the exam review classes, and put effort in on the project and you'll do great. Looking forward to taking Dr. Cohen any chance I get.

TONS OF EXTRA CREDIT! Tests are hard, don't go with lecture material. Grades are not posted on canvas. 3 exams, lowest dropped. Volunteer for extra credit experiments, each one 1 point but those add up and they only take 5-10 mins. GO TO CLASS offered 10 points for showing up to the last class and 15 for filling out the evaluation. No book needed.

Dr Cohen is an amazing professor and By far my favorite!!He explains hard concepts by telling interesting stories. Hes definitely one of the best psych professors svsu has. I would recommend him especially to incoming freshmen. Grade is based off 4 tests but he offers extra credit and theres no cap to the amount of points you can earn.

Such an amazing professor! Very helpful not just in his class but with test taking and giving tips on how to do well in college. Tests are very straightforward and clear and he is very clear about what will be on the test during the review lecture. Definitely try to take him if you can!

I loved Cohen! No homework which is nice, and grade is based off of 3 exams. Lowest exam gets dropped. Uses stories during lecture to make things easier to remember. Do not buy textbook, it is not needed. Only downfall is there is no visual aids, he just stands at the front of class and talks. Easy A if you show up, take good notes and study well.

Great professor. He does not use Canvas, but that's not an issue because he doesn't give out any homework assignments. Your grade is based solely on lectures, so don't skip. Also, don't buy the book! You won't need it if you attend lectures/take good notes. He is easy to talk to, and his lectures are funny and interesting. Lots of ex. credit!

Honestly he is so funny! Tells great stories to help you remember the material. Make sure you take notes and the book isn't really necessary. No homework and your lowest exam gets dropped

Lou Cohen definitely kept the class amused throughout his lectures. He used personal examples to describe the topics, which made them easier to understand. There few grades, but the tests are manageable if studied for. He also does not check attendance, but tests are based on lecture material heavily.

Dr. Cohen is a very intelligent man, however he is very unorganized when presenting material. His lecture style is straight lecture, no visual aids or written notes provided. I felt as if the tests were not a good example of what was presented in class. Be prepared to independently study all material.

Great prof. He knows exactly what he is talking about and will help you when you need it (usually during his office hours). Very funny and loves to tell stories. Only down side is the modules to read did not match the ones on the syllabus. Other than that he is a GREAT professor.

He has very interesting stories, but that is all he pretty much talks about. He does not use the text book and he only talks. He did not use power points or v-space. The only thing that we got graded on were the four exams that we had. I would most likely not take him again.

I am a psychology major and I thought that they would put me with a better professor. He lectures the whole time, which is good for notes. However, he likes to get off topic and tells more personal stories than actually teaches. He never gives homework (which is how I learn). If your good at taking notes and love not having homework, he is perfect.

Professor Cohen is a very interesting individual with many interesting anecdotes. He is very kind and tolerant. Though he gets sidetracked often, it is tolerable. Doesn't use V-Space. Four exams, which are actually somewhat difficult, but the lowest is dropped. Can obtain 30% extra credit. Would recommend taking. No outside homework.
