Had her for academic writing and shes very condescending, and has clear favorites of students who went through a serious hardship, are new and confused, or are international. Also doesnt seem to get boundaries. Class is very boring and she treats you like you dont know how to read instructions, walking you through like a middle schooler.

Very condescending and thinks she's better than everything. She kicked people out of class when they were registering for classes because academic writing is more important. If you ask a question she laughed with her stupid laugh and makes you feel dumber than the question. Bad teacher boring class

A very sweet and understanding lady. One day I forgot to go to a one meeting with her and she let me hand in the paper a couple days late so that I could go to the academic advising center and have it revised. She does grade a little tough and is old fashioned in her source requirements.

Academic writing sucks. We all know it sucks, but it is an IC requirement. I'm glad I had Professor Cannon, because she loves writing. People hate her because they really just hate the class. It is a typical college class, and first-year students struggle because they quickly must learn to take responsibility. Cannon, however, is great.

It wasn't the most interesting class, but that was more because of the material. Louise is well-educated and well informed which means she can sometimes come across as condescending. She does have a sense of humor and is generally understanding.

Louise is a VERY hard grader. I have been told I am a good writer multiple times, but I still only got Bs. You can revise the first 2 papers, but she doesn't up the grade very much. She just will never be happy with YOUR paper until SHE writes it! Her way or the highway. She is WAY too critical for an Academic Writing course.

Louise knows what she's doing, but she can be condesending when you ask for help. Assigns 4 papers for the semester, which is great, but don't slack, they are 85% of your grade and she grades them fairly tough. She gives you chances to revise the first 2. You can miss 8 classes. Overall, she's not the friendliest, but she does know the subject.

Boring as heck. Wrote four papers on the SAME TOPIC ALL SEMESTER. Seems nice at first, but it's just a front she puts up. biased grading. One time she forgot to return a paper of mine, and I asked a million times for it back...never got it! Don't take her classes and don't fall for her fake nice attitude. She's a complete waste of time and money.

Had her for academic writing. She lets you miss class up to 8 times. She can be funny and she's nice but the class is just boring. She only gives you 4 papers for the entire semester though which is great. I'd recommend her as a professor by herself. She just got caught with a boring subject.

this class is great for going over the basics and occasionally she can be funny, but the class can get boring. She allows students to miss class up to 10 times a semester so choose wisely. Sometimes papers are judged too harshly and comments can sometimes reflect the her opinions of the writer and not the paper. She is a decent teacher.

I'm a junior with a 3.78 GPA. This was the first class I've ever dropped. If you don't enjoy dissecting sentences and words, DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. Louise is stern and her lessons are rather boring. One day, halfway through class, I couldn't take it anymore. I stood up from my chair, walked to the registrar, and filled out a withdraw application.

A great class taught by a mediocre professor. Louise did a decent job - I learned the material from her - but she didn't do much to engage the class or spice up a pretty dry subject. If you can, take this class with David Flanagan; I just had him for Syntax & Style, and he was much, much more interesting.
