Dr. Lucy Bednar is great. If there are problems in your drafts, she can help you fix them real easily. She's very good at noticing even the smallest errors present. She's a little bit of a tough grader, but she isn't bad overall. Take her!

No tests, just quizzes on readings (so do them! Makes up 15% of your grade!). She also grades on attendance, you can miss up to 3 classes without penalty. Assigns a semester report that you work on throughout the semester, and allows you to pick any topic you want. Gives a good overview of the major in her class, which is the point.

Dr. Bednar's lectures are really boring but her dry sense of humor tends to make things a little easier. She can be a tough grader but if you take her advice during group evaluations you will do well on her assignments. Not the greatest professor but would take her again. If you put actual effort into your papers you will do well in this course.

I love Dr. Bednar! She's really sweet, and a great person to talk to. This class involved a good amount of writing, but Dr. Bednar grades very easily. The class lectures are pretty dry, but Dr. Bednar manages to make it fun nonetheless.

Probably simultaneously the easiest and worst class I have taken at JMU. She is incredibly inappropriate with her humour, boring, and did not really teach us anything this semester. It's an easy A if you know what you're doing because she certainly isn't the one doing the teaching.

Very dry humor and not a bad class. It's a little boring, but the subject matter is dense anyway as it is an intro course. Her grading is harder than it should be, but she gives easy one question quizzes on readings that boost your grade. The grading on your semester report pieces are tough though. You're allowed three absences.

Dr. Bednar is a little boring, especially if you have her in the morning. I will admit it is difficult to get an A but as long as you put in the effort and go to the writing center, it is possible to get an A. Not a bad class to be honest, essays are easy, only 5 a semester, no final.

Very enthusiastic... wants her students to do well. She is always trying to figure out how to best use technology in her class. Cancels class (or at least changes the schedule) a lot, but if you actually do pay attention- she makes the content interesting and meaningful. As a bonus, you usually don't have to purchase a textbook! Recommended.

The class itself is dry and Dr. Bednar does her best to make it interesting. You may not think she is a nice, funny lady when you first walk in but she will surprise you. She knows what she is talking about. There is work, and the paper is long but it's a good class and i learned a lot about writing and finding sources.

Dr. Bednar is an outstanding professor in the TSC department. She's extremely knowledgeable on the subjects she teaches and is always eager to help students. You may even end up dancing with her during class at some point. Love her teaching style and overall personality.

Good teacher overall. I'll admit that I don't like writing much, but this class made it better than it usually is. All classwork is meaningful and will actually teach you something. Take her if you get the chance. Only complaint about the class was that the teacher expressed some biased political views and didn't give us a chance to respond to them

This woman is by far the best teacher in her department. She is funny and has a good relationship with her students. Easily approachable and is flexible in turning things in and grading. Kind of a light talker, and often times the material is dry and boring, but she tries to liven it up. Take her for any class you need. Get to know her quick.

Bednar is great. Gives print out of expectations for assignments and lets your personal interests guide you. She HATES people checking email in class but other than that she is really laid back. Attendance policy, but will work with you for emergencies. Overall she was a great professor.

Class is not challenging or stimulating. A lot of busy work, probably because she is stuck teaching boring material...But such a NICE lady! She has a sarcastic sense of humor that takes you by suprise at random moments. I like her.

Class wasn't difficult, but did require steady work. Several peer reviews. All oral presentations were informal! Dr. Bednar is very helpful, knowledgeable, and easy-going. She spent an hour helping me revise my final project! Super nice lady. I highly recommend taking her if you can.
