In 18 years of schooling i have never had a worse experience with a prof. Bullies and insults students and encourages other students to do the same. never hands back work on time, holds class over frequently, changes instructions on assignments the day they are due, horrible amounts of busy work with no practical application, tests have no logic

I'm in his voice studio, and he is the best voice teacher I've had - by far. He knows so much about technique and communicates it directly. He's supportive but honest, optimistic but realistic. He's the best voice teacher at Furman - get in his studio, if you can!

Dr. Thomas is a terrible musician. He has a horrible conducting pattern and would rather spend hours on nuances when half the dumb sopranos don't know their notes. He's also a terrible advisor and will place you in classes without your consent. He's very political and plays favorites. Horrible Conductor, Horrible Advisor, Horrible Dept. Chair.

Better at eating BBQ than teaching. First time I saw him I felt the need to ask him for Christmas presents. Only comes in at 11 so he can take a lunch break, then leaves at 4. Too lazy to sign his own name, so he made a stamp. Looses pants frequently.

Dr. Thomas has a true passion for music. Yes, if you get to know him your experience will be better; not always easy - but worth it. He was was very encouraging and helped me take advantage of several opportunities I would not otherwise have had.

I was in the chamber choir with Dr. Thomas at the SCGSAH in its first year. Not being much of a vocalist, I expected to be looked down upon...I was surprised to find that he was more than willing to help me be a better musician(and he did). Thanks Dr. T

Being that he is the president, Dr. Thomas should attempt to attend a healthy number of the recitals at Furman. Also, interact with the students more. Make them feel like you appreciate them being a part of the music department.
