One of my favorite professors. very helpful, very enthusiastic about his class, which is good since english is boring anyways. His papers are fun to write, he is not uptight about what you write about which i really liked. you need to put in a fair amount of effort but its worth it, beats taking a crappy prof. TAKE HIS CLASS!

he's just a nice and FUN guy. i really wasn't much of an english person before, but he made me feel like i was. his assignments are a blast, and he's so encouraging of finding your own voice. he's difficult if you're stuck on formulaic writing, but if you like trying new things, his class a lot of fun.

I LOVE this professor! He is my all-time favorite teacher. When I took his class on Tolkien, his passion for the author was obvious. He took us in-depth in a way that no other teacher I've had has done. His essays were not that difficult, but then, I was interested in the subjuct matter and cared about what I was writing beyond the grade.

Great professor, thought-provoking assignments, extremely helpful and enthusiastic. Grades are stricter than most Freshman level courses here, but most freshman courses here are a mindless cake walk. The grades are fair and he explains why he gives the grade he does. Sticks to the syllabus. He is the best teacher I've had here. Just sublime.

One of four great profs in the dept. Extremely bright, knowledgeable, engaged, and personable. He's been a mentor to me, and will be a model when I'm a prof. High-energy teaching style. Wish I'd taken more courses with him! Freshmen: you won't find a better writing prof than Dr. Niiler, anywhere.

i love his enthusiasm, it's inspiring to me. he doesn't know how much of an affect he's had on me. he's a great teacher, one of the three best i've had in my lifetime. if i am ever published, his name will be there in my thank u notesss ;)
