She gives a lot of reading assignments just for you to read and has nothing to do with the exams. No extra credit!!!! and she is very strictclear about that. The exams are tough and if you don't read EVERY single thing she gives you, forget about it!

Avoid this class if you're not much of a listener or can't teach yourself the concepts just from reading. Tests are based off the reading, her lectures, and the tangents she goes on quite frequently. She's very knowledgeable, but the amount of information she gives the class verbally on top of the reading can be overwhelming.

She is like Carl in seasons 1 and 2 of the Walking Dead... She just makes your life more complicated than it needs to be. Avoid at all costs. Run. Run as fast as you can.

I was concerned to take her class because of all the negative comments about her. She is actually a very knowledgeable person. There is a lot of reading, but if you actually take the time to do it and learn what you're there to learn, you'll be fine. As for her attitude, she just doesnt suffer fools. She makes the expectations of the course clear.

I'm a Political Science major, and Fairlie made this class too boring for me! The very first exam was a breeze but after that, she refused to post actual study guides (not just questions to the readings), thus tests became a lot more difficult. If you really must take this class with her, I'd say pay attention to the guest lecturers and read a lot!

Terrible teacher! She didn't respond to any emails, when you ask questions in class she is demeaning and unhelpful. The tests were nothing like her lectures and pretty hard. She put material on the test she specifically said wouldn't be! The amount of studying I did for a ge like this is really infuriating. Just avoid her at all costs!

She was so rude to me it was appalling. She rolled her eyes at me multiple times. The class topic has so much potential, but did not learn anything. waste of time and energy. Class was simple, test a little tricky. if you try you could get and A, but not worth it to have such a rude and unprofessional teacher

WORST teacher. SO monotone I didn't understand anything. Emailed her a couple times and was very rude. If your someone that gets sidetracked easily and needs to pay attention to learn anything then DO NOT take. Barely any assignments and got a B- but wasn't worth my time AT ALL.

Her class is not that bad, I thought both of here tests were rather difficult, but I studied for them the night or 2 nights before the exam and received an B- and c- on the both of them. You give 1 5minute speech, its super easy though. Overall, shes not a very great professor, but her class was easy and i still managed to pull a C+. EASY A IF U TR

I retook this class after Ingrahm's and got an EASY A!! Not hard whatsoever if you aren't a lazy freshman. Doesn't answer questions if its on the syllabus but will help you if you go to office hours and actually have some common sense. She's super short witted though, I found it funny honestly.

She really needs to retire. I tried to receive answers to several question I had throughout the semester, and she never helped. Most of her answers were to look for it on blackboard (often times not there) and she was just rude most of the time. Class sounded fun, too bad it wasn't thanks to her >:(

Pretty easy A. I did learn a lot about the politics of Europe. The tests are quite easy and she makes you do a speech (which is basically a research paper), and a short paper. All of which were not really challenging. Many didn't have patience for her though, I like her personally.

The class is really easy. She cut out over half the material we were supposed to cover. We were supposed to study 8 countries and we only did 3. I didn't learn anything! I didn't read anything and I got 100% on the 1st test and a B on the 2nd test. Really boring teacher and she constantly calls people out for talking like it's elementary school

Obviously won't be employed elsewhere so carries on making life hell for the few unfortunate enough to have to take her classes. Doesn't reply to emails, is known to her own colleagues in the faculty as "elusive" - in the current climate where really great lecturers and profs are being laid off at SDSU - why is she still here? Hell. Pure HELL.

This class was a waste of time. It's hard to pay attention because she mumbles a lot and goes off on tangents. She won't give you the help you need and says she wont do your work for you. Do not take this class because YOU WILL REGRET IT.

I regret taking this class because it was a complete waste of time. You can't understand her because she mumbles and I barely learned anything because she went off subject on just about everything. If you want time to do sudoku/read the daily aztec, or do hw for other classes then this class is perfect. I will never take her classes again. Ever.

Her tangents are way too distracting. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you want an hour 1/2 to catch up with homework, show up to class and sit in the back. Tests are far too easy for the class to be upper division; text is long and a little dated. Take this class if you want 3 easy units and not much knowledge.

why the admin hasn't weeded her out yet is anyones guess. take this class if you want an easy grade. the only hard part is that she rambles relentlessly. like listening to grandma tell her life story before she kicks the bucket. depressingly boring and not relevant to class. this is basically a comparative gov't class disguised as an upper div clas

She isn't half as hard or mean as everyone makes her out to be. She is a good writer and expects graduating senior to be good writers also. Just do your work and if you have time show her ahead of time. I got an A- and only had time for her to show her my rough draft for one paper.
