Sherrod was not understanding at all in this class. He did seem to enjoy watching students squirm during exams. Very old school style...prof is there to prove his greatness...students are there to realize how ignorant they are.

Lectures are read straight from ppt notes. Tests do not resemble ppt notes or book. Grades tests unfairly. Takes smoke breaks during class time. Very rude to students. Purposefully waits until just before the final drop date to give his first test. Claims he grades tests without looking at the names but I have my doubts. He seems to play favorites.

His class is a class where you will learn a lot even if you arent interested in plants. I have retained the info that I learned and I love it. He can be a jerk, but he also can be nice. It was funny to see him smile only one day out of the semester and guess what day that was the day of the final he loves to watch people feel miserable about tests

Plant tax is all about the herbarium- do well on that and you make an A in the class. Dr. Sherrod is organized in lecture and gives clear notes. The lab teachers are helpful. Only complaint is that the herbarium is too much work- takes up your weekends all spring. Start early and relax in April is my advice.

He is a very organized lecturer and tests directly from what he says in class. Lab practicals are hard. Take good notes and don't worry about the book too much. These other reviews are way off- his class isn't very hard at all. Just memorize your notes and the slides in lab.

If he makes up his mind that you are going to fail you have no chance. He is a very mean person and will give credit for something to one person and not to another for the same answer on a test. He is not at all fair in his grading. A horrible experience.

Class is very boring, just reads from the slides. The tests are incredibly hard and vague. However, Dr. Sherrod is a very nice guy and willing to help, it just doesn't do much good. I'm normally a straight A student and made D's in this class.

Horrible! His lectures were boring and his tests were unreasonably hard. There was no way of studying for his tests, because the material was not in the book or from his lectures. Out of eight people that stayed in the class- the highest grade was a D.
