Comment:
Friendly and approachable, makes a definite effort to ask student how they're doing outside of class. Some material is tough, but it's very straightforward. Readings are often interesting, but long and only brought up for 5 min/class. Lab component is graded fairly toughly, especially if you aren't extremely familiar with science/lab concepts.

She calls students as she sees them. If you don't care about her class or put in the effort, you probably won't do well. The course is intriguing: World War Z as the closest thing to a textbook. She wants everyone to do well but knows that some people are just taking it for the GenEd. Don't take this class if you aren't interested.

The good: Very enthusiastic teacher who knows her stuff. Lectures are comprehensive. The bad: Grading is very inconsistent. You can't really adjust your answers because one person will get it right with that answer and the other gets it wrong. Also, not the easiest person to talk to. She's there, but she's kind of dodgy about questions.

Dr. Arneson is very enthusiastic. However, she was told by administration that, over the years, she's been too lenient on grades, so she graded our class harshly and without remorse. She gave me an 80 on an essay with no comments or marks. Her grading is completely arbitrary.

her tests seem like they're easy for the most part, but sometimes you get your test back (with zero feedback) and receive a significantly lower grade than you anticipated (and deserved). The class is pretty boring as well.. Just reads powerpoints

Dr. A makes immunology, an extremely tricky subject, not only fun but clear as well. she knows her stuff pretty well and her tests are extremely fair, not necessarily easy. all questions will come from her pp slides, no surprises. the nicest teacher you will ever have. she makes immuno super fun.

She is extremely helpful and engaging. Always is open to questions and presents the material very clearly. It's not an easy class, but a grad level biology class is not for the student who's looking for an easy A.

Dr. Arneson makes the material as interesting as possible. It is a General Biology class though, so that can be difficult to make interesting. She is a very fair teacher. The exams test your knowledge, but they are not impossible. She is very easy to get in contact with and very willing to help students. Great class.

She wants you to get excited about Bio, but knows it isn't going to happen. After all, this is BIO-100 -- if you cared about the subject, you'd be in BIO-110. She knows that, and knows you know. So she just makes everything super easy so you can pass this GenEd and move on. Overall, it's like pulling off a Band-Aid. Hurts a little, but good for you

This class is extremely difficult; however, all you really have to do to get an A in this class is know her powerpoint lectures very well while using the text for clarification. I studied 15-30 hrs/test. For those that did poorly on this test: realize that bio at AU is a breeze compared to most other universities, med school, and grad school.
