i took yahata sensei for japanese 101 and she helped me fall in love with japanese. she's so cute and funny. her class is pretty easy and a good introduction into the language . definitely don't be afraid to ask her to clarify if you don't understand!

i took yahata for 2 semesters last year. BEST PROFESSOR EVER. i love her, she's hilarious and a bucket full of rainbows and sunshine. her class was really difficult, she has an accent, but even though i was not doing so well, i went to class everyday and always participated, she always helped me out. very understand and very funny . I RECCOMEND

I had yahata sensei for 2 semesters. Very funny and adorable professor. This class was really fun. It was really hard since i didnt study the vocabulary as much as i should have. Must study vocabs and sentence structure! And if you are a bad test taker def have good attendance and participate. She is a very fair grader

Nice lady but thats about it. Extreme accent. Took her for love and film and boy do I regret it. Watched 4 movies and read 3 novels. 4 papers 4 group presentations and a final. Way too much work for a 100 level class. This lady means well but she really cannot teach.

Always catered to our questions, was very open about all things Japanese even outside of class. Very organized professor. She made us say our sentences individually which was very helpful and got me comfortable speaking - even if I had an accent. Makes the class, and the projects fun and enjoyable.

She is a nice prof. I am currently taking her. One big problem is that she goes super fast. She moves on fast. Attendance is not that mandatory but if you miss a class then it will be hard for you to catch unless you read the book and understand what the book says. Textbook and a work book are mandatory. We have to bring it to every class.

DO NOT TAKE HER FOR JAP 280. She makes you draw in booklets and if you hand it in late or don't hand it in she deducts a BIG PART of your grade. If you're late 1-5 minutes, deduction. Really has no sympathy for anything what so ever. If you get the vibe shes not fond of you, SHE REALLY DOESN'T LIKE YOU. She has favorites.

Yahata is an awesome teacher! She keeps the class interesting and fun with many jokes, but still helps you learn. I was having problems with learning until she started teaching and i started learning and understanding the material. She's more of a visual teaching teacher (ex: one of her tests was a listening one and you have to draw what she say)

Prof Yahata's culture class was taught for the 1st time in pace and I would deem it as being unsuccessfulyl taught. There are a lot of reading assignment as if it were a Lit class and papers. The class overall had no structure except a lot of in class reading. Understanding her was a challenge with the accent!!! Not at all recomended!
