I fell asleep a lot too - he would dim the lights and lull you to sleep with his deep voice. Some of the best naps I ever had. You have to have a good memory to do well on the tests. He would also wear this britney-spears type microphone and eat hard candy at the same time - the sound of him eating candy was projected to 800 people.

Seemed like a nice guy. Rambled off topic a bit, like a **** at a bar. But overall decent prof.

Seems like a very nice guy but when it comes to lecturing, his voice was like listening to an air conditioner for 2 hours, i couldn't stay awake. It was torture being in con hall for 2 hours with that man

Overall, a nice and somewhat humourous man. Lectures very boring and tests did require specific details.

I had a hard time with this professor because he's only willing to discuss academic issues with students. I required special accommodations in his lectures and he was really less than interested in helping me out. That turned me right off. Not to mention, his lectures are boring.

I had MacKinnon as a prof years ago. He is an effective lecturer, but you are required to *pay attention*, which is perhaps difficult for students. He is intelligent and engaging and extremely supportive of his students. If you're having trouble following along, it has more to do with you than with him.

A funny teacher. Tutorials something to be desired. Tests are brutal, asking for way too many specific details you'd never remember. Only 2 short answers on the final exam, the rest of the grading is done by multiple choice which SUCKS. But interesting content, if this is where your interests lay.

I stopped going towards the end of the year because I just couldn't bare it any longer. The lectures were incredibly monotonous, and the tests? OH the tests. Forget the major sections in the book, search for the tiny paragraphs that only mention 10 different statistics and their 10 different researchers, because that's what they want to know. WHY.

Ok, this man is hilarious. His jokes are so ridiculous and unfunny that they become funny. His stories are funny too. He is the man, although somtimes boring with the lecture content how interesting can Weber and Marx be? I mean really, it is so boring in the book a prof could make it no better

Extremely likable and liberal, makes a lot of jokes but digresses all the time. Somewhat disorganized lectures, switches abruptly from one point to another and so hard to take coherent notes. Here's a tip for tes: questions from book are easy/fair; from lectures are specific so STAY AWAKE and LISTEN

A good professor who can be quite dry at times. But he is easy to understand, and if you read over the lecture material and text once, then you'll be okay. His tests require memorization.

He knows what he's talking about, but his monotonous voice and dry humour makes me want to be anywhere but in the room with him. He should just give us the slides and let us sleep. Also, his tests are unfair based on the material given in class. I do not recommend him.

I am in Professor MacKinnon's St. George campus section (in Con. Hall). Even though Professor Mackinnon is witty and has a wide knowledge base, his lecturing style is VERY FRUSTRATING at the best of times, and his tests are unreasonable (grammar errors, irrelevant/confusing questions). STAY AWAY!!!

He really knows what he's talking about, but sometimes you will find yourself falling asleep in his class. When he goes on a tangent, I put on my headphones. He has a wicked sense of dry humor though. Overall a pretty cool Prof.

Very good prof. Altho he speaks slow, it was easy to understand what he was talking about and therefore understand the course content. His jokes are funny and he is a nice guy to talk to if you have problems in the course. Good prof. Fair tests.
