Comment:
I found the material in 337 to be very boring so I found it hard to attend class and engage with the material. Rutherford is not an engaging or energetic lecturer and I don't believe he has a passion for the teaching. Overall the material was strait forward. Go to class, study in advance, get an B or higher. 40% midterm, 60% final.

Lectures are straight forward and are all he requires you to know for exams. If you've taken a class with Mosk, Rutherford's style will be familiar (albeit less structured). This particular course had only 1 midterm and the final (5 essays combined), and you are given a list of possible topics. Course content was interesting too; recommended.

Not exactly the most interesting professor, but the class he was teaching involves some pretty dry material (Microeconomics) so it wasn't exactly his fault. His tests are pretty straightforward, do the study guide and you'll get a good mark. Attending the lectures isn't mandatory, but I would still recommend it.

Had Prof Rutherford for introductory Micro. He is one of those "veteran" profs who has been teaching the course for something like 30 years. His explanations are very clear and well-paced (slow, but not too slow); however, he can be a bit dry. Micro is an "input output" class. If you do all of the study guide you should feel comfortable on exams

Study guide is very helpful and the book also. Go to class even though it might VERY boring because sometimes he explains material differently than text which helps for exams.

Lectures may seem useless and boring, however it is a damn good idea to show up and at least pay half attention. He is quite clear in his explanations. Do the study guide and you should be golden.

Solid Prof. Lectures aren't the most entertaining, but do help clarify some of the graphs and material. Do study and guide and Lab questions and tests are fairly straightforward.

Pretty good class. If you do as he says and use the Study Guide, class is VERY simple and straight forward. Lectures are fairly slow, but GO TO THEM, they are key to understanding what is in the study guide.

It can be really hard to concentrate on that class ... so make sure you bring coffee. While he puts up all his slides on the course site, he sometimes goes into more detail during the lectures, and at the very least the graphs make more sense (and there's A LOT of those in micro). Two midterms and a comprehensive final, not too bad.

Fairly easy professor. His class consist of long and tedious lectures that you can skip for the most part and you can follow by doing the readings. Only 1 midterm, no papers or assignments and 1 final. If essay writing is not your forte then its not a recommendable course for you. If it is then you will find it easy.

You don't need to attend class. Memorize his slides. If you can repeat his slides in an essay you get an A. Very very very easy

his prepared slides were all he talked about in class which made it very difficult to pay attention. his midterm and final exam are all essay questions and require you to remember details from every economist, and their insignificant differences. The hours of studying that I put in were not reflected in my grade. Avoid this class and this professor

Rutherford prepares pretty good slides, then reads them during lecture. Can be a slow class, but if you use the text to study you'll do fine.

Powerpoint notes are basically what he is going to say except for a few added notes and graphs. His dry english sense of humour is pretty hilarious :)

he got quite good lecture notes, coming to class and takes note before hand can upgrade mark. Mid test does not accmulate from the last, but it goes deep into details and all over the places. Not bad for a senior prof

One of the most knowledgeable profs in the department. Some of the material can be a bit bland, but he has a tendency to tell interesting and funny anecdotes. His slides are great, and his free-hand graphs on the board tend to be freakishly neat. Great classes! Recommend him.

His accent makes the lectures interesting, but I just did a test in this course, and it was BRUTAL, he even apologized for making it so difficult. When it comes to notes, he's organized in his own mind, but as for following the text book he's all over the place, which makes prereading anything extremely difficult.
