Comment:

Professor Brettler is very knowledgeable, especially about the Hebrew Bible, plus he's a great lecturer. Highly recommend his class for getting a taste of critical analyzations of the Bible. He is caring and will make time for his students. Assignments are tough, but put in the effort and you'll be rewarded. Very useful info for future classes.

Brilliant Bible scholar and dynamic lecturer. The material is tough and he's not an easy grader, but I think he's fair, and it's worth it. I learned a lot, and I'd take it again to learn more.

Love this class! Look forward to it all week. Very engaging and knowledgable. only 2-3 papers and final was a presentation. Tough, but fair grading. Flexible with paper deadlines if asked in advance and respectfully. Great experience! highly recommended!

I thought Professor Brettler was awesome. Initially I was a bit put off by him because I thought he was a little too full of himself, but as the semester progressed my opinion of him totally changed. The class was interesting and discussion was the best part of it. He really, really knows what he's talking about!

Comment:

This guy is the head of nejs department...the quesion is WHY??? My guess is that this way he has less classes to teach. He teaches bible and history as if reading off a train schedule. Somehow he just manages to make everything so boring that you end up counding minutes until the end of class, and then counting how many seconds that makes.
