Comment:
While Professor Doucet is very excited to be teaching Political Science he is a very difficult marker. He assigns in my opinion very interesting readings however, the assignments he grades his students on are very difficult. He provides very few instructions. The class content is interesting by the classes themselves are very boring.

Marc is a horrible grader. He's bias and only cares about his political point of view. If you differ from his opinions you will fail, such as if you are a capitalist you will fail, which is ironic because SMU is a business school. He has a nasty temper and he will not help you if you need it.

Taken multiple POLI courses, including Model United Nations, IR and IO. GREAT prof, somewhat repetitive though. Gives students the choice to write two short summary papers or do a midterm. this is a real benefit because you can work to your own strengths. Be engaged with the materials and you will do well.

Excellent prof. Knows what he is talking about, explains things well. Class moves forward at a reasonable pace. Prior knowledge of Political Science is a must though.

He's a terrible instructor. He's not likable. His class "international Organizations" focus' only on the UN when he already does a UN course. As if the UN is the only international organization. Must be nice to live in his world. I will never take another of his courses again.

I was really interested in political science prior to this class and he really ruined it for me. I attended every class and still wasn't able to grasp what he was talking about. I felt really lost and when I talked to him he simply said "read the book". He is very knowledgeable and hard working but can't teach. Very frustrating.

Classes were really boring and hard to sit through. You should have a good knowledge of politics prior to taking his class. You can do a midterm and an exam or a research proposal/paper. The text book was impossible to read through, and the tests are based on it. Not a good first year choice.

No kidding he loves repetition, we've only been on the same power point slide for the last three classes. Never talks much of what you read in the book. Turns 'class' into a discussion time with 3 of the people in the entire class, nothing noteworthy. Needs to stop pronouncing American names like David and Rachel in french emphasis...

Marc Doucet is an incredibly good teacher, as a student in his intro class you gain an understanding of politics which is truly incredible, really encouraging me to minor in the topic. Key things to remember when you go to this class, take notes, take a genuine interest and read the readings. Trust me its time well spent

He took the class and himself way too seriously. The class could've been interesting except the same tedeous routine that he does for every class makes you lose your attention span within 20 minutes.

He DOES look cute in his sweater vests. But it's a shame that a class with so much potential to be interesting (International Relations) was often deathly boring. He is a good guy overall though, I would probably take a class with him again.

Nice guy but very difficult marker. He is very helpful but only sees things his way. His standards are way too high so if you want to get a reasonable grade don't take his courses. I would advise you to take his courses if you like being bored to death

This guy is absolutely insane! I am a straight A student who had and A- on his paper and prosposal and he gave me a C because the essay question was worth 60% of the exam and 25% of the mark for the whole term! I worked very hard only for him to decide he would give everyone less 50 on his final

He knows his UN stuff but has a fixed view of politics, tries to keep it out of his lectures but you see it anyway. Very repetitive, do you work and you'll do good.
