If you put in the work, the class isn't difficult and you will learn a ton of helpful writing tips. She meets with groups of students before each final draft is turned in. Listen to her tips during these meetings, make changes to your rough drafts, and you will easily pass. Books were also somewhat helpful. Overall awesome professor!!

Comment:

Don't buy "They Say, I Say" that book is stupid. Dr. Taylor is a great teacher, though. She sets up meetings with writing groups and goes over your papers with you before you turn them in. This helped me so much and it's the first time I got an A in English since about 10th grade. A little opinionated on some things, but a very fair teacher!

Dr. Taylor is very helpful. There are four papers you have to do throughout the semester. No class every other Thursday, just meetings to go over your draft. Plenty of time to do them. Very little homework. And I learned a lot.

Marcy is AMAZING!!! She is such a nice woman and extremely helpful. I actually learned a lot in this class and my writing skills increased immensely. She is very flexible, all you need to do is communicate with her. Definitely one of my favorite professors :)

Dr. Taylor is a great teacher. She had us write as if we were her students. I liked that we didn't have to turn in all of our papers we wrote. Only four of our writings needed to be "published". Of course, the midtier was so helpful. Great to get into the classroom and get a better feel for teaching writing to students.

Marcy is wonderful. Her organization, clarity, and skill amaze me. She is a very kind person and really expects her students to work--but I wouldn't have it any other way. This lady was the WORST teacher I've had at CMU. She was snooty, stuck up, and made a point to close the door in my face one morning. I hated having bad writers critique(not!) my work. She wouldn't even look at it for me. BAD TIMES.

This is the best class ever! It should be mandatory for all education students because you learn so much. Outdoes BOTH co-hort lit. classes! Teacher is excellent! Expect midtier two days a week an hour each session for ten weeks.
