I absolutely love Dr. Vinton, she is incredibly boring to listen to in class but she is super helpful if you go in (she is not the best at responding to emails) She is a really interesting person and you definitely get the grade you earn in her class, not an easy A by any means but I would recommend her highly

Vinton is a pretty straightforward professor. Tests are based almost entirely on the in-class power points and you really don't need to do any outside reading. Online mini quizzes make up part of your grade and are actually helpful in learning the material. Pay attention in class and you should be fine.

Super bad teacher! Her tests cover so much material and you never know how much she will focus on one topic. Her lectures are super hard to focus in bc she is so boring. You have to study super hard for this class. She goes super fast and expects too much. For your good take Burke. I'm so legit

Dr. V was a good professor for this class. The material is pretty interesting and straight forward. You travel to different parks for lab so that was cool. Very knowledgeable on the topic. Tests weren't bad, the final is 150 points though so study hard for it. Good class to take for CW course.

Dr. Vinton is not as bad as everyone is saying here. You really just needed to put the work in to learn all of the slides, and you were fine for tests. Attend review session cause she sometimes drops hints, and she's helpful in office hours.

This has got to be one of the toughest classes to teach as a professor, and I'd say that Dr. Vinton did a good enough job. While lectures weren't the most engaging, she covered a TON of material in a semester. Very fair tester, and very helpful with review sessions and other resources.

I went into this class with the expectation to fall in love with my favorite subject all over again, and while I don't like to blame teachers; this class was just too boring to pay attention. Hundreds of laptops with FB didn't help either. Her slides are the tests but that does not make them easy. Not an easy A at all. She does cover all material.

Dr. Vinton's voice is very distracting and can only be comparable to Umbridge's from Harry Potter. She says um and you know a lot when she doesn't know what she's talking about. tests are straight forward and she gives an extensive study guide.

Difficult to listen to. Study guide for tests were of no use. She told us things that were "important" that were not even on the tests. Not a very interesting teacher. A lot of people slept or listened to their ipod. Take burke for sure.

Class wasn't bad. But she was pretty bad. She emphasized things that weren't important. Put everyone to sleep. Gave a study guide and none if the material was on the test that were mentioned on the study guide. Unprofessional PowerPoint comments. Says "ummm" all the time.

This class was SUPER boring and she went through a ton of material. I would suggest taking Burke if given the option. Bureks class went a lot slower and had a lot less material. With her you can just look through the powerpoits the night before the test, but she gets you on the final!

Im taking into consideration that its her first year teaching BIO 212, but she did less than stellar. INSANE amount of material covered for tests, which were only 35 mc questions. Plan on going over her lengthy powerpoint slideshows and reading the book 2 weeks before the exam if you want a shot at getting an A. Also she loves plants so be prepared

Be prepared to study! She covers a ridiculous amount of info. About 10 chapters/test. She crams in new things last minute. Not much is tested -tests are only 35 Qs, it's very difficult to get an A. 60 Q final, 1 paper, no homework. Take lecture notes and use MasteringBio if you want to succeed in this class!

I major issue with her was that you never knew what she was going to cover on the tests. She would cover so much material in every unit and you never knew what she was going to emphasize. We had a test that covered 10 chapters. A bit excessive! Her class went all the way to ecology and burke's only went to bacteria. She moves TOO FAST. Just study

Comment:

First of all, she covers a lot of material in a short amount of time, and you WILL have to make an effort to keep up. Her tests are (generally) fair. As for reading the book, yes, she does make her tests based on the powerpoints, but guess where those slides come from? The book. If you're reading it, you'll already know everything on the slides.
