Comment:

We had very minimal work and only met twice a week, but watched SVU on Thursdays. would have been an interesting addition to class if Dr. Hagen was a good professor, but she isn't. Plain and simple, the worst Professor I have ever had. I was confused and lost most of the semester, and when I asked peers no one else really knew what was going on.

avoid avoid avoid!! with how much money we spend at BU, this class is nowhere near up to par with actual quality education. Had unorganized classes on Tuesdays, then just watched SVU on Thursday. Im sorry what was I supposed to learn? Grading is tough and doesnt make sense, so stay far far away from this class you want to get a good grade

The only 2 grades in the classes are the exams and the concepts on those exams are not mentioned in the class (memorize the tb and you'll be fine). I was very disappointed in this class, not much was learned or taught. We watched outdated documentaries and SVU for almost 50% of lectures. I suggest taking a criminal justice class in MET instead.

Halfway through this semester, and I regret taking this class. I feel like my education has betrayed me. The class is so dry its almost painful. I honestly felt bad for Prof. Hagan, but then I read previous comments here and checked out her "articles" online. Wow. I cannot in good conscious allow myself to be taught by someone who discriminates.

Watch out at all costs. This professor is rude, condescending, laughs at her students and biased. Do you want a real education on the history and types of critical thinking in forensic psychology? Avoid this class. Ive had to teach myself everything online unfortunately... BU needs to hire someone else who can respect her students...

I usually only write good reviews on this site, but I felt compelled to warn future students of this professor... the most biased professor i have ever encountered... also check out the articles she wrote online on ga y and tran s people (spoiler: anyone different from her shouldnt be recognized by science or law)

I rarely write reviews for professors but it is a pain to go to her class. She's very condescending and rude to her students, and you basically have to teach yourself on all the materials because her lecture is so boring that it's hard to stay focus in her class. Def one of the worst psych professor at BU.

She is the worst professor at BU. She makes no sense when she talks and you basically have to teach yourself. You might think it would be an easy A but only grades on exams event though she makes you complete quizzes online - which count for nothing. Don't take this class if you can avoid it. There are much better Psych classes out there.

Funny, quirky, and highly entertaining. Super knowledgable about legal psychology, but a bit lacking in clinical expertise. Will challenge many of your preconceptions and beliefs. Class covers some heavy topicsnot for faint of heart. Read the textbook and pay attention in lecture. Ask questions during class; she's too busy most other times.

I liked her because she sees psychology from more than one angle. Yeah it can do a lot of good, but there are plenty of theories/ideas/practices like personality assessment, the ability to draw in depth conclusions from body language, 'repressed memories,' and more covered in the course that's empirically bogus.

Actually the worst professor I've ever had here. Extremely rude, teaches you nothing, and highly unprofessional. Don't take, unless you also think psychology is a myth or abuse is okay. Or if you enjoy watching pointless 80s movies about sexual assault. Oh, and don't bother saying your opinion in class or asking questions--she'll just laugh at you.

In short, class was a bit inconsistent, but Hagen does a great job getting everyone to question the roots of embedded and accepted psych and judicial tenants. This extremely easy all you have to do is memorize the quizzes and the lectures and your set. The problem come sin when Professor Hagen is the most scatter brained and irresponsible professor I have encountered at BU. For the later half of this semester she has managed to skip out on class and have her grad students teach at the last minute.

LOVE prof. Hagen. She knows what she is talking about and she is really interesting. All the topics covered in class are super fascinating, never bored in class. She is funny, reminds me of Meryl Streep. Only two tests, both are 100 q's and she gives you 50 of them before the test on online quizzes. BEST CLASS at BU so far and i'm a Junior...

Comment:

Hagen is extraordinarily immature and uneducated on the matters of clinical/abnormal psychology, which can make this class excruciating at times. (She thinks believing in clinical psych is akin to believing in unicorns.) It's an easy class, but frustrating if you disagree with, say child abuse.
