I had Margaret as a prof about 10 years ago. I don't know what everyone is complaining about. She was one of my favourite professors. She knows her literature inside out, and she definitely cares about her students. Her stories are very entertaining.

Terrible teacher. She would just read aloud from the text and got mad when we asked her questions. She was very rude to a few members of the class, and ended up swearing at one, then going on "medical leave" for the rest of the semester. I'm not sure why she's still teaching at UBC, avoid her at all costs!

This woman needs H-E-L-P! She has no idea how to teach. Completely self-centered in a pathetic way. Irresponsible - goes off topic, comes unprepared, thinks talking in a baby-like voice will get her off the hook. She must have some weird immunity cause she should have been fired long ago!

Completely unorganized, never responded to my e-mails, didn't know how to work her computer, would spend 20 minutes discussing her daughter and the tv show "Friends" instead of teaching. Often would ask how we wanted her to teach, rather than actually doing it. Fairly easy marker, but she should be, as she didn't teach the class a thing.

Absolutely the NICEST teacher I've had at UBC, but the others are partly right, she is disorganized. HOWEVER, she is a very easy marker and I only went to half of the classes but got an A minus! I reccomend this class if you already have a good grasp of French, don't feel like going to all the classes, and want to get a good mark with no effort.

Do not take her! Switch classes if you can. She wastes class time and does not really explain things properly, not good for a french class. Does not utilize French and yah like the others said she wastes time with stories. She makes you feel dumb and does not really answer questions.

She is very disorganized. It might seem a waste of time to go to her class at times; however sometimes she is extremely helpful. She is a sweet old lady, but forgetful... FORGETFUL! so, if you are in this section, try to switch to another one if possible. She is fair though, but just FORGETFUL and talks about her daughter in english too much

Loved this class! Awesome prof! She often went off topic + textbook a HUGE help, but was very entertaining and did all she could to help us get better grades (worksheets, practice exams). I just switched to her class for 112! Course material a bit tricky, esp. if you haven't done french in a while!

She spent a lot of time telling stories in English yet she stressed learning a language by speaking it. She's very responsible in the sense that she will go the extra mile to make more worksheets and give us practice tests before a real one. Lots of digressions, but she has a sense of humor.

Got off-topic more than the students. Expect to learn about her daughter and celebrity gossip rather than French. The textbook is your new teacher. That said, the class was fairly entertaining. Just not worth the $400 I paid to take the course. Didn't learn anything new at all. What a waste.
