Manchester is hard- but somewhat fair. Her grading is difficult- and she expects a lot out of you. She thinks her class should be your top priority, and is in denial about the amount of work she gives- overall good with extensions when needed and not an awful teacher- just frustrating due to her expectation of perfection. Work hard & you'll be fine

Dr. Manchester definitely falls in the tough but fair category. But that shouldn't scare you off. She's very engaging and helpful and knows so much about the subjects she teaches. Most of her classes are discussion based, so show up and do your best to participate.

I took her Diplomatic Am. Hist class and LOVED it. She does expect you to read every night and be prepared to discuss in class. She is very helpful. She met with me to proofread my final paper and made suggestions to help me improve. Margaret Manhcester is an asset to PC.

Hands down the best professor I have ever had at PC. She expects a lot from her students but if you do all the work, an A is definitely possible. I have never learned so much in a class as I did in Dr. Manchester's class. I highly highly recommend you take one of her class's before you graduate!

Tough but manageable and completely fair. I don't think I learned as much in any other class at PC, and it's all important stuff too. Lot of work - reading and short papers especially - but none of it is pointless. She is as good a professor as you'll ever have, anywhere.

I've had Dr. Manchester for two classes now,and I must say that they were my favorite history classes to take.Her class is mostly discussion based,and her papers require you to develop/defend specific opinions. While her diplomatic classes cover politized issues, she focuses only on what can be gathered from the material. Grades well, a GPA booster

Best professor in the his dept Short papers arent that hard if you make sure you read & cite from the text(prim&second sources) Does assign a lot of readin BUT you learn a lot! So nice & understanding Discussion based so you must go to class & if you do only SOME of the reading, make sure you participate w/ whatever you can She is awesome TAKE HER!

Best class I took at PC. Best professor the school has. Power points and group projects that are interesting. You leave the class understanding the world we live in. If you want to know what is going on in the Middle East, TAKE THIS COURSE!

I took American Diplomatic History I first semester, and would have taken the second half of that course if it was not so early. It was an interesting class, very revealing. Dr. Manchester is very intelligent, knows her stuff. Lots of reading and awkward class discussions, but it is a good class. A couple of papers each semester.

HARD CLASS. although everyone should be informed about the middle east because of the situtation today, the class is SO much work. 2 books reviews (the books are 600 pages), at LEAST 100 pages of reading for every class, news briefs for EVERY class. she's a tough grader too...excepts too much out of her students. VERY smart woman, though.

Her classes are mainly lectures from a powerpoint, but the topics and readings are interesting. No midterm, just a paper, project, and a final with weekly readings and questions on angel every once in a while. Kind of boring in the morning tho.
