Worst prof ever in my 3 years. I've had her twice but nothing changed. Hard marker and does not care at a single ounce for her students. Doesn't let you use the bathroom during class and will talk about you to the class if you do. Condescending when you ask a simple question. Never Again! Save yourself from the rude and belittling prof.

She is pretty passive aggressive. for example, if you leave class she will make comments about it as you're leaving. She has also called people out for their essays they were handing in in front of the class.

Maria gets distracted easily. She does not allow for students to leave the classroom to go to the bathroom and she will call students out if they do. She has pop quizzes based on trick questions from the text that were graded. Attendance is not mandatory however she strongly suggests to attend all classes. Hard marker.

Her classes are interesting but her grading is super tough, she openly makes fun of other classes and how collectively all of her students are not doing well. The material she picks for us to read is really interesting but you need to be careful not to write about things she has not said because even when you back it up she will mark it wrong.

A good teacher and although I had a good grade in her course, the experience was not pleasurable. My premise is that she cares so much about her course, she forgets to properly impact the students. Many find her unapproachable, I won't oppose. Just come to class, avoid your technology at all cost, listen and take notes. Review her comments! G'luck

Unapproachable. Condescending. Rude. Easily offended. I think she needs to realize that students use technology to learn and needs to be more open to laptops and phones. Were adults not children. Idk where her marking comes from basically if she didnt like your writing style you suffer even if you have provided everything shes asked for. AVOID

Really great prof, she really cares about her students. Easily offended, if you want to be on your phone all of class or plan on leaving midway, don't bother coming because she'll call you out. Really good lectures, extremely informative. You won't get by without reading the novels and plays.

Tough grader and not exactly clear what assignments are being marked on. Work hard and you'll get a good grade. You can't get by without reading the books so don't try. Really cares about her students. Introduce yourself and get on her good side! Respect her and she'll respect you.

Dicenzo was nice and knows a lot about what she is teaching. I'm not sure where the marking comes from though. Could not get a good mark on written things, no matter how often I went for help and how hard I worked. You can't get by without reading the books. Don't try to slack unless you don't want to pass! DON'T LEAVE HALFWAY THROUGH CLASS!!!!!

Comment:
As a quieter student I remained virtually invisible in this class and really observed Dicenzo. She is rather condescending when she speaks to students and felt rather unapproachable. However, she is passionate about the material and explains it well. She can be a tough marker at times so stay quiet, do the readings and you will survive just fine.

When I had DiCenzo first year, I was actually pretty scared of her. She was strict and intimidating. I've had more classes with her since and have found that she's absolutely amazing She genuinely cares about her students, she has a brilliant passion for everything she teaches, she's not afraid to clarify when needed, and she's hilarious

Comment:
Completely arbitrary marker. I studied extremely hard, not hard at all and then somewhere in between and received the same mark when I know for a FACT the quality was hugely different between each test/exam. If she doesn't like your writing style your mark will suffer even if you met all requirements.

I love Dicenzo! She's so small and feisty. She really knows the material and clearly explains it. She also offers great open tutorials which really helped me in my conversion from high school writing to university writing. Loved her!

Comment:
Dr. DiCenzo was the most unapproachable professor I've ever had. Not only did she embarrass students by kicking someone out almost every lecture, but she made it very clear that she was far too good to be teaching a first year course. I felt very generalized as being a stupid first year who didn't care about what she was teaching. Not cool.

Dr. DiCenzo is BY FAR the most helpful and authentically caring university professor I've experienced at Laurier. She works harder than any student in order to help any student. Put in the work and she double it for you. I am forever indebted to her as a personal and professional inspiration.

If you do the work and speak up in class you will have no problems. She does ask if you are in class to be paying attention but I wish more profs were as attentive! If you are willing to do the readings and go to class you are golden. She is very knowledgeable and loves helping her students. Her passion for english is very helpful.

Holy Cow, what a boring and hrad prof. She is very angry when he class falls behind, even though it was through he bad teaching that we fell through the cracks. She is is very helpful in telling you what she wants to hear back, but this is a course when the T.A is your savior. Keep it if you're up to the challenge, 'cause it will help in the end.
