This teacher inspired a love for the French language in me. It was because of her that I went on to pursue a French degree in university. She was very helpful and made learning French fun.

Comment:

Pretty good French professor overall. She seems to teach a little bit differently from other teachers and the textbook, but I found it very easy to follow along in her class. The material is covered thoroughly and carefully. She marks easily too.

Bully. Mocked a little Japanese girl because she couldn't pronounce "chaud" ("choo choo? I don't know what that is" was Rivet's response). Easy, organized, clear. But the worst attitude sometimes.

Easy class and really easy to do well. However, if you're struggling with the language, I would not recommend her. She's not a very good teacher. Really boring if you graduated french immersion because you will already know everything she's teaching (even though this class is recommended for those who have graduated FI)

Does teach good material and has good tests, however her notes are super messy and unclear and all over the place. She jumps from one topic to another which can be confusing when trying to learn a language. Is an easy marker. Can be someone rude by calling out certain students when they say something wrong and making people feel emberessed.

She can seem a little rough or abrupt at times, but if you put in the effort, you should be just fine. Her marking scheme is awesome - if you're on the right track, you'll get part marks for it. Just be sure to show up to class, read the textbook, and put in a little bit of effort, and you should be fine.

aww I love Mme. Rivet.. just try not to annoy her. dont ask questions if the answers are rite under ur nose. its not gona help if u try to sound smart. n do come to class. it helps. if u suk at languages, then dont take it? it will b fast paced. but its normal to me. CDs are useless, just go on the sites she gives u. convo labs r SO MUCH FUN. oh n for those who complain bout how she talks in french 24/7, does she ask u to translate them into english? No! n its common sense, if she ask u a Q, u should kno wut shes askin IF U PAY ATTN. shes just tryin to make u listen to french more. jeez suk it up..

I liked her, and learned a lot from her. In our class, she didn't seem to pick on anyone. But she does expect you to have done your homework. Tests were easy and short compared to the amount of material we covered. Easy marker - if you forget an accent one a 1point question or misspell something, she'll take off .15 or something tiny like that :-)

She is great!!! She gets students involed. To all those who haven't got anything nice to say... STAY AWAY FROM LANGUAGES! If you dont get it your not trying hard enough. She doesnt pick on students, she will ask questions, its a language. She has to know if you get it. If you feel picked on or targeted, you arent prepared for the class. Its basic!!

Ooh-lala francais est une langue magnifique et je l'adore beaucoup. C'est vrai que francais est la langue d'amour :).Well for me that class was a pleasant experience, but i can't tell i learned something new though, maybe it's because I've been fascinated enough to start learning French on my own :). But I loved, and I mean LOVED the convo labs!

Well, all of you guys saying that she doesn't explain things in English, are simply not getting it. It's a French language course, and if everything's explained in English, how will you learn French? For me, that was one of her biggest mistakes (that 3/4 of the time she spoke English). Convo labs were great though, i actually got to speak French!!!

This class was aweful!!! As a person who has spoken french for a very long time and just wanted to improve my writting I really did not learn anything. She made a lot of the students feel stupid and her tests were a little off topic compared to what she taught in class.

Didn't like this class. Picked on people who didn't understand. Didn't explain things. Wasn't the nicest lady on the planet. I don't know. She just wasn't fun, like I was used to from French teachers. Everything was so straightforward. Did like the convo lab though, Valerie is awesome:)

She does not give relevant help towards the tests the gives. Wastes way too much class time with pointless excersies within groups and not enough time examineing the material that's going to be covered on the test. Text can be confusing and her tests gives out questions that were never even disscused. she does not prepare u for tests well.

Got a bad mark, but at no fault of hers. pay attention, ask questions and go to your lab classes. Read the text alot, and hand in plenty of compositions, no matter how "wrong" you think they might be. She's very understanding, and easy to get along with if you follow the rules. Make sure you phone is off before you step into the room though.
