Marja is very passionate about Biology, and she attempts to make boring concepts interesting. Go to lectures since the exams are on the lecture notes and be ready to study. Her notes are a bit disorganized and she goes a bit fast so you gotta be focused during the lecture. Marja is also very helpful when you attend her office hours.

Marja has by far been one of the best profs at Capilano. She's more then willing to help out her students who are making an effort for it. Her enthusiasm for biology has made this class one of the best and would definitely take another course with her!

Marja is a very good teacher, she is so passionate about everything. She's very approachable and helpful. It's good to be at all of her lectures because sometimes she'll ask a question on the quizzes/tests that she applied in class but is not in the textbook. She's kind of a hard marker, you really have to study and know you're stuff.

She likes diagrams!Don't be surprised if the quizzes have diagrams where you have to fill in the blanks! She is super friendly and approachable.If you want to do well, study the multiple choice questions in the book/online and study/memorize her notes.

She is really excited about biology, but i found the tests to be really hard. So much focus on detail... if you take the class make sure you have a light course load to go along with it cause your gonna spend forever on little things you thought you would not need to write a 10 mark long answer question on!

Her do classes require work, however there are very few other teachers at Cap that offer the same quality and intensity of teaching than she does. You need not fear falling asleep during lecture, moreover, if you miss one, you better be prepared to work overtime to catch up. Wonderful teacher with an obvious passion for biology.

Marja is a nice person but a very bad teacher. She is hard to understand and unable to clarify when you need it. She knows her material very well and is very smart, but teaching is just not her thing. She acts like Biology concepts are common knowledge and she is always just a review-not actually teaching it to you. I loved biology until her class.

I've been at Cap for 6 years, and I can honestly say Marja is one of the best teachers I've had. Very knowledgeable about her subject, and obviously loves teaching it. If you show up to every lecture, take good notes, and see her for extra help that she is very willing to give outside class time, you'll learn a ton and easily get at least an A.

horrible, i got half mark for answering the right answer on a multiple choice question, why? because there 2 right answers for which she didnt clarify there's the possibility of multiple answers. boring lectures, horrible test, wth is 5 marks for defining mitochondria?

she's super energetic, but sort of treats you like you're in high school...she gets offeneded when you don't take notes, which get extremely annoying if thats not the way you learn. i found this class easy becuase i was familiar with the subjects, but i can see if you had no background to what she talks about it can be very confusing.

This course was all about memorization. However, you will learn a lot from Marja. She makes biology very interesting. Her exams are based on her lectures and notes, so make sure that you take really good notes (write down EVERYTHING about her "stories")! This may be a challenging course but if you actually STUDY long in advance, you will do well.

Marja is pleasant as long as you play along with her and treat her like an authority.She's arrogant and dull,expects you to be riveted and if you're not, she picks on you to save her ego.I didn't giggle at her jokes and so she stared me down and even came right up to my desk and lectured at me! Very juvenile and self-important,which was distracting

i took bio in gr12, so this class was mostly review. Marja really makes everything so interesting tho, I loved the class and learned new things all the time, stuff you can really apply to everyday life. Exams kinda hard if ur not used to the style, but they're like 95% based on the lectures. If you're taking bio, get in Marja's class! its the best!

All her tests are based on lecture material, you have to write everything down! Her quizzes are 25 mc and 2 short answer. She usually asks questions in class that will be on the quiz. I thought it was going to be easy and I bombed the first quiz. But then i really studied and i got 90%. Pretty good considering I knew nothing about biology before.
