Awful lectures she is so soft-spoken you can never hear here and half the way through class her microphone runs out of batteries so you really can't hear here. Her notes are so unhelpful you'll have to use straight memorization for this class. Do not take!!!!

Comment:

Very difficult exams, however, she grades very leniently and with common biological background knowledge you can easily get a passing grade. Interesting material, but it is not presented in that way (Which sucks if you actually care). Are lectures inspiring? No. Is she organized? No. Way too much material on exams. But it isn't excessively hard.

Comment:

Easily one of the worst professors I've ever had. While Dr. Reaka is a sweet lady, her lectures are disorganized and unhelpful, and her exams are unreasonably hard. Study guides that are given are completely useless and none of the material on them is actual on the test. Do not take this class with Reaka.

Comment:

She is a kind woman but this is not "marine biology" like it says, it is marine ecology. So we talk about how marine life came to be. She has a very monotonous voice and it is really hard to be engaged in the topic. Doesn't really inspire the students to care.

The information in this class was so interesting but she is SO BORING which totally ruined the class for me! There is an insane amount of stuff you need to know and her tests are really confusing and specific (although she will tell you otherwise). She also goes really out of order which can be confusing during lecture.

Professor Reaka isn't good at teaching at all. She reads from the powerpoint slides, which are completely clustered and out of order. Her voice is monotonous and on several occasions I found it hard to stay awake. Definitely would not recommend having her as a professor.

I took this class with Professor Jensen and withdrew because of horrible TA so compared to Jensen I thought her class was easier and the tests were easier, however, this is NOT an easy class!!! I failed the first exam, and so did 3/4 of the class. My saving grace was that the lab grade can really make a difference. Prepare to work hard and study!

HORRIBLE. She NEVER replies to your emails- I sent her about 9 emails throughout the semester and she never replied to a single one. She also lies- she said that there would be a curve at the beginning of the semester but she only curved by 0.02%... that's not even HALF a point! Her lectures are dry: she is soft spoken and monotoned.

Although her lectures may be dry, some are interesting and she really enjoys some of the lectures. I've seen other bsci106 tests and by far hers are the easiest. Tests are straight forward. No book reading is necessary; only lecture notes. I recommend going to class to hear the lectures - makes the class easier, but you can get the notes online.

WOW... DO NOT TAKE HER!!! The entire 1 hour and 15 minutes of lecture was her pointing at slides and talking into a mic, EXTREMELY BORING!!! It was hard to follow and she talks about topics that have nothing to do with anything. She also runs over the alloted time and she will not curve. I think she wants her students to fail.. just a hunch

This class was very hard. The professor was hard to follow. She would go really fast through the notes because she would post them online later. I felt like the topics that she would emphasize ended up not being on the exams. The exams were not very long, meaning that most of the material was not covered and each question counted a lot.
