He's very organized. Everything is clearly outlined. He's not exciting, but if you do everything as outlined you will get at least a decent grade without trying. Just start your programs early.

If you are new to programming i would recommend you to go to his class because he gives tips on programs You dont have to go as most of the time his classes are total snoozefest. The class is very hard for people new to programming. If you have enough effort to ask and get help you will pass with good grade Expect programs to take forever to finish

Mark is a very nice professor and will reconsider your grade without hesitation if you believe a project, quiz, or lab assignment is unfair or incorrectly graded. The course material is covered quickly, especially if you are new to programming. However, Mark enjoys answering questions if asked and teaching the class.

Mark is a great guy, he understands what students need to learn and is very successful in his execution. However, sometimes he misses the point as he can have very dry lectures, but get used to it if your in the computer science field, there are only so many ways to explain how to program. He is very helpful, so if you need anything, just ask.

His lectures attempt to go over what to do on the programs. He's passionate and helpful. Lectures are on the dry side. Anybody who gave this class a 4 or 5 for easiness is lying. ( Unless you have prior java coding experience ) 3 for easiness is pushing it. I'm speaking for myself and 5 others. Some of which are some bright CS people.

Comment:
CS415 is an introduction to Computer Science class which focuses on utilizing the Java language. When I took this class, I absolutely had no background experiences and/or knowledge of Java whatsoever, but I ended up with a solid A. The lectures can be rough because of Bochert's monotone style of speaking but he is a nice professor.

Anybody who hasnt programmed , programs will be hard. First couple programs will be easy but after 4 or 5 it will get very tough . Go to the pac during free time. Start every program early. Lecture is boring and not worth going to. You really learn everything from doing it in lab. I still encourage you to go to his offie hours as he can be helpfull

Not a bad guy and a really good teacher, but very dry lectures. Cs 415 by no means is an easy class. I had no previous coding experience and I had a really hard time and had to rely heavily on resources around campus. If you know java the lessons will be a review but if you don't know it definitely go its helpful!

A good professor. He will help you if you need help. Lectures are pretty pointless to go to, but he will give out code to help you for the programs if you go to the lectures. Grades the programs very fairly, If he takes out points for something he didnt specify , he will give the points back.

If you have no programming experience cs415 416 will most likely be VERY difficult. For anyone needing this course: Start all assignments early, as early as possible! Study, study, study!! Go to the PAC on off hours, don't wait until the end of the week. Make appointments with Prof early. Be ahead in scheduling & you'll pass, fall behind good luck

Concise class notes. He teaches you what you need to know. Bochert talks monotone, but he is not a bad professor. I would recommend him.
